  • Publication number: 20180110072
Abstract: An apparatus may communicate with at least two networks. The apparatus may be configured to opportunistically decode a channel from a first network and a channel from a second network in order to receive data from both networks. The apparatus may determine whether first data carried on a paging channel (PCH) is decodable from a subset of slots that carry the PCH. The subset of slots may be included in a set of slots that carry the PCH. When the PCH collides with a physical multicast channel (PMCH), the apparatus may decode second data carried on the PMCH instead of the first data when the first data is determined to be decodable from the subset of slots that carry the PCH, and decode the first data instead of the second data when the first data is not determined to be decodable from the subset of slots that carry the PCH.

  • Patent number: 9913316
Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate to extending an awake period (on duration) or an inactivity timer duration in a Connected Discontinuous Reception (CDRX) mode for a first subscription based on activities of a second subscription. A method according to some embodiments includes determining that the awake period of the CDRX cycle associated with the first subscription collides with the activities of the second subscription, and extending the awake period by an extended awake period in response to determining that the awake period collides with the activities of the second subscription. In addition, a method according to some embodiments includes determining that the inactivity timer duration collides with the activities of the second subscription, and extending the inactivity timer duration for an extended inactivity timer duration in response to determining that the inactivity timer duration collides with the activities of the second subscription.

  • Patent number: 9826570
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for a wireless communication device having multiple Subscriber Identity Modules (SIMs) in which a first SIM is associated with an Internet Protocol (IP) Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) subscription that supports IMS services. The method includes but not limited to, determining that an IMS activity has completed at the IMS subscription, and determining whether a timer for a scheduled IMS signaling exceeds a time threshold. The timer indicates a time duration until performing the scheduled IMS signaling as scheduled. The method further includes, in response to determining that the timer does not exceed the time threshold, performing the scheduled IMS signaling and releasing a connection for the IMS subscription.

  • Patent number: 9369892
Abstract: A method for wireless communication by a wireless communication device is described. The wireless communication device determines that the wireless communication device is in a limited service state. The wireless communication device camps on an available cell in response to the limited service state determination. The wireless communication device monitors a synchronization channel from the available cell at a reduced rate than a rate used for a full service state.

  • Publication number: 20160007370
Abstract: Various embodiments provide methods implemented by a processor executing on a mobile communication device (e.g., a multi-SIM-multi-active communication device) to opportunistically schedule a victim subscription's power monitoring activities to occur during periods in which the aggressor subscription is already scheduled not to transmit, thereby reducing the amount of time the aggressor subscription must perform Tx blanking to accommodate the victim subscription's idle-standby-mode operations. Specifically, the victim subscription's monitoring activities may be scheduled to occur while the aggressor subscription is operating in a compressed mode. As a result, the overall throughput/performance of an aggressor subscription is improved as the aggressor experiences relatively fewer blanked transmissions without affecting the victim subscription's ability to perform power-monitoring operations.

  • Publication number: 20150351009
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention include devices, systems and methods for efficient PLMN searching. One method can include initiating a service search procedure. A list of channels to perform a power scan on is prepared. One or more channels are removed from the list of channels that use a same public land mobile network as a camped on cell. Frequencies of the channels are obtained from system information. A power scan is performed on the channels in the list of channels to obtain power scan results. One or more channels are removed from the power scan results. An acquisition process is performed on the channels in the power scan results. Other aspects, embodiments and features are also claimed and described.

  • Patent number: 9198088
Abstract: The present disclosure presents a method and an apparatus for searching for service when a multi-mode UE goes out of service (OOS). For example, the disclosure presents a method for receiving a request to scan frequencies of a RPLMN of a first RAT and scanning the frequencies of the first RAT based on an acquisition database (ACQ DB). In addition, such an example method, may include sending an available PLMN list to the NAS layer, switching to a second RAT based on a request from the NAS layer, scanning frequencies of the second RAT based on the ACQ DB, and camping on a frequency of the second RAT found during the scanning of the frequencies of the second RAT based on the ACQ DB. As such, a method and an apparatus for searching for service when a multi-mode UE goes OOS may be achieved.

  • Publication number: 20150201355
Abstract: A method for performing cell reselection by a wireless communication device is described. The method includes determining that the wireless communication device should perform reselection to a target cell from a serving cell. The method also includes determining that the wireless communication device does not have paging channel information of the target cell. The method further includes prioritizing reading paging channel information from a broadcast channel of the target cell over reading a paging channel of the serving cell.

  • Publication number: 20120308014
Abstract: A method and apparatus is for outputting audio files to a user to enable selection of one of the audio files by the user. At least two independent audio files are played simultaneously, distributed differently over a set of speakers, thereby to appear to the user to originate from different directions. This enables a faster selection process by the user.
