    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Some wireless communications systems may support multicast communications, which may relate to a multicast service (for example, a multimedia broadcast multicast service (MBMS)). A communications device such as a UE may transition from an inactive or idle state to a connected state to receive multicast services and provide feedback to the network. A wireless network may implement different techniques to trigger the UE to transition from the idle or inactive state into the RRC connected state to receive multicast services. For example, the UE may receive a trigger message that indicates that the one or more multicast services are available for use by the UE, and the UE may determine whether to transition to an RRC connected state to receive the multicast services based on the trigger message.

In one embodiment, a base station (BS) receives, from a user equipment (UE) in a first cell frequency, a request for a protocol data unit (PDU) session over a network slice. The BS receives, from a core network entity, a resource configuration request for the PDU session over the network slice. The BS transmits, to the core network entity, a resource configuration response indicating a cause for rejecting the resource configuration request. In one embodiment, a UE transmits, in a first cell frequency of a network, a network registration request message requesting a network slice of the network that is not provided by the first cell frequency. The UE receives a network registration response message indicating the network slice is allowed based on a second cell frequency of the network providing the network slice requested.

A user equipment (UE) may receive control signaling indicating a truncating configuration for an identification indicator. The truncating configuration may indicate a set of bits within an initial identification indicator to remove to generate a truncated identification indicator. The UE may remove the indicated set of bits and transmit the truncated identification indicator to a base station. The base station may receive the truncated identification indicator and reconstruct the initial identification indicator according to the truncating configuration. The base station may reconstruct the initial identification indicator by adding the set of bits (e.g., removed by the UE to generate the truncated identification indicator) to the truncated identification indicator.

Some wireless communications systems may support a determination of user equipment (UE) capabilities, such as a category or a coverage level for broadcast or multicast content. In some cases, a radio interface may be configured to account for an indicated capability of a target UE. For example, a base station may receive an indication of a capability of a particular targeted UE. The capability of the targeted UE may be specified by a service provider to deliver multicast or broadcast content, and subsequently associated with a radio interface between the base station and the target UE. The radio interface may then be configured based on the indicated capability of the target UE, for example, by configuring a transport block size or bandwidth. The base station may then transmit broadcast or multicast content to the UE using the configured radio interface.
