    Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method that configures a virtual datacenter that includes a set of workloads executing on hosts in a public cloud and an edge gateway executing on a particular host for handling data traffic between the workloads and different external entities having different sets of network addresses. The method configures a router to execute on the particular host to route data messages between the edge gateway and an underlay network of the public cloud. The router has at least two different interfaces for exchanging data messages with the edge gateway, each router interface corresponding to an interface of the edge gateway. The edge gateway interfaces enable the edge gateway to perform different sets of services on data messages between the workloads and the external entities. The method configures the router to route traffic received from the external entities and addressed to the workloads based on source network addresses.

    Abstract: The disclosure provides an approach for an overlay broadcast network for management traffic. Techniques are provided for updating an underlay network route for a virtual computing instance (VCI) on a new host. After activating the VCI on the new host, a routing table on the old host is reprogrammed to associate an Internet protocol (IP) address of the VCI to an overlay broadcast network IP address and a routing table on the new host is reprogramed to associate the first IP address to a local route on the new host. The VCI sends a message to an application programming interface (API) endpoint to initiate reprogramming of an underlay network route to associate the first IP address to the new host. When a response packet is received at the old host, via the underlay network, the old host broadcasts the packet to the overlay broadcast network.

The method may comprise: based on configuration information that is generated by a management entity and associated with a network interoperability support service, performing security verification and one or more configuration operations to configure a network interoperability support service on the network device; and obtaining policy information associated with the network interoperability support service. The method may also comprise: in response to detecting an ingress packet travelling from a virtualized computing environment towards the non-virtualized entity, or an egress packet travelling from the non-virtualized entity, performing the network interoperability support service by processing the ingress packet or egress packet based on the policy information.
