  • Publication number: 20240072417
Abstract: An electronic device may be provided with a dielectric cover layer, a dielectric substrate, and a phased antenna array on the dielectric substrate for conveying millimeter wave signals through the dielectric cover layer. The array may include conductive traces mounted against the dielectric layer. The conductive traces may form patch elements or parasitic elements for the phased antenna array. The dielectric layer may have a dielectric constant and a thickness selected to form a quarter wave impedance transformer for the array at a wavelength of operation of the array. The substrate may include fences of conductive vias that laterally surround each of the antennas within the array. When configured in this way, signal attenuation, destructive interference, and surface wave generation associated with the presence of the dielectric layer over the phased antenna array may be minimized.

  • Patent number: 10642233
Abstract: This disclosure generally relates to building automation systems, and more particularly to device enrollment techniques in a Building Automation System (BAS). In one example, the Building Automation System includes a central controller and one or more remote sensors/devices. The central controller is initially placed into its enrollment mode. An installer may then walk around the building uttering a predetermined verbal word or phrase. When a sensor/device hears the predetermined verbal word or phrase, the corresponding sensor/device enters its enrollment mode, and then becomes enrolled with the central controller of the Building Automation System. In some cases, the Building Automation System may include a security system.

  • Patent number: 7834530
Abstract: High-current density field emission sources using arrays of nanofeatures bundles and methods of manufacturing such field emission sources are provided. Variable field emission performance is provided with the variance in the bundle diameter and the inter-bundle spacing, and optimal geometries for the lithographically patterned arrays were determined. Arrays of 1-?m and 2-?m diameter multi-walled carbon nanotube bundles spaced 5 ?m apart (edge-to-edge spacing) were identified as the most optimum combination, routinely producing 1.5 to 1.8 A/cm2 at low electric fields of approximately 4 V/?m, rising to >6 A/cm2 at 20 V/?m over a ˜100-?m-diameter area.
