  • Patent number: 9608744
Abstract: A receiver can extract digital data from wireless radio frequency signal. The digital data contains index data and corresponding content digital audio data. The index data can comprise compressed digital audio data. The index data and content digital audio data are stored in memory. The index data can be retrieved from the memory, decompressed and then converted to analog audio signals. A user can use the analog audio signals from the index data to select audio content for playing by the receiver.

  • Patent number: 9026072
Abstract: A receiver can extract digital data from wireless radio frequency signal. The digital data contains at least two sets of compressed digital audio data each associated with a different set of audio program. One set of compressed digital audio data is delivered in a first frequency band and the other set in a second frequency band. One of the sets is stored in a memory system and the remaining set is not stored in the memory system. A user can select one of the sets of compressed digital audio data for decompression and then conversion to analog audio signal.

  • Publication number: 20130268608
Abstract: An information distribution and processing system contains a remote site, a sender and a receiving apparatus. The remote site contains a first set of digital data. The sender delivers a second set of digital data to the receiving device. In one embodiment of the present invention, the receiving device contain a timing device for automatically receiving the second set of digital data at predetermined times. The second set of digital data contains a first set of displayable data, a second set of displayable data, at least one non-displayable symbol, and at least one linking reference associated with the second set of displayable data. If desired, a user can select the second set of displayable data. The associated linking reference is sent to the remote site. The associated linking reference is used by the remote site to search for the additional information, and returns the requested information to the user.

  • Patent number: 8172137
Abstract: Authentication of an individual can be performed even when the individual does not have physical identification documents. A person provides a password, a contact number and at least one piece of human generated information to a company. When the person wants to establish identity, he/she first calls an agent of the company. The agent asks the caller questions that include the human generated information. If the agent is satisfied that the caller is the authorized person, the agent sends a code to the caller using the contact number. The caller can use the password and the code to later authenticate himself/herself.

  • Patent number: 7900820
Abstract: Physical products can be delivered to a recipient who does not have physical identification documents. The recipient (a) provides a password, a contact number and readily recallable information and (b) receives a first code and a telephone number. When the recipient wants to retrieve the physical product, the recipient calls an agent using the telephone number. The agent asks for the first code and authenticates the caller by asking questions related to the readily recallable information. If the agent is satisfied that the caller is the intended recipient, the agent sends a second code to the recipient using the contact number. The recipient can use the password and the second code to retrieve the physical product.

  • Patent number: 7840176
Abstract: An information distribution and processing system contains a sender and a plurality of processing units. The sender delivers a set of digital data, without receiving a request signal, to the plurality of processor units. The set of digital data contains a first set of displayable data, a second set of displayable data, at least one non-displayable symbol, and at least one linking reference associated with the second set of displayable data. If desired, a user can select the second set of displayable data. The associated linking reference is sent to a database. The database contains additional information. The associated linking reference is used by the data to search for the additional information, and returns the requested information to the user.

  • Patent number: 7814212
Abstract: Non-deterministic digital content can be generated frequently and automatically. The content can then be delivered to another device using local and remote communication channels. One type of digital content is access code for accessing a host (which, in many cases, is located in the home or office of a user). There is no need for the user to remember any number or perform any special operations. In one embodiment of the present invention, the host contains information or devices that the user wishes to access remotely using a portable unit. Either the host or portable unit (the originator) generates non-deterministic access codes at regular time intervals (e.g., once a day) using a random number generator. The non-deterministic codes are delivered to the counterpart (host or portable unit) of the originator using local communication. Because the user is likely to visit his/her home or office frequently, the codes can be updated frequently.

  • Patent number: 7783014
Abstract: A sending device exchanges handshake signals with a receiving device prior to the delivery of compressed digital audio data. The sending and receiving devices are remotely connected using a data network. In one embodiment of the present invention, the sending device sends an access code to the receiving device. The access code is an encrypted data of two components: a digital data associated with the sending device and a digital data associated with the receiving device. The receiving device decrypts the access code. The receiving device stores the compressed digital audio data in its memory if the decrypted access code contains the correct components.

The digital data contains at least three sets of compressed digital audio data each corresponding to an audio program. At least two of the three sets of compressed digital audio data are stored in storage. Each of the stored sets of compressed digital data is associated with a set of index data. The receiver contains an output device allowing a user to perceive the sets of index data. The receiver also contains a digital to analog converter. If a user selects one of the sets of compressed digital audio data, the selected compressed digital audio data is decompressed and converted to analog audio data.

  • Patent number: 7627750
Abstract: A method for delivering digital data to a plurality of processing units is disclosed. A plurality of portable memory device containing a first set of digital data is distributed to the plurality of processing units. The first set of digital data is unencrypted and comprises a content portion and an identification label. At least one of the processing units sends the identification label to a remote station. The remote station then encrypts a second set of digital data and delivers the encrypted data to the requesting processing unit. The requesting processing unit can decrypt the encrypted data, and combine the decrypted second set of data with the content portion.
