    Abstract: A retaining device is provided for maintaining the position of a microphone mounted to a boom arm with the boom arm being pivotally mounted to a microphone stand. The retaining device is a strap assembly that can include upper and lower securing portions of the strap assembly for being secured to the boom arm and the microphone stand, respectively, and a middle portion of the strap assembly interconnecting the upper and lower securing portions and including an adjustment mechanism for adjusting tension between the upper and lower securing portions.
