    Abstract: A special component strand for wire fabrics, the fabric consisting of one or more of the special strands extending in spaced apart generally parallel relation, and spaced apart, generally parallel cross wires extending transversely to the special strands, each cross wire being attached to each of the special strands at its point of intersection therewith, as by piercing said special strand or by being wrapped or twisted tightly thereabout. The special strand of the present invention consists of a spring wire core having a sheath of tough but compressible material having alternating ribs and grooves formed longitudinally in the surface thereof, the ribs permitting easy indentation of the strand by a cross wire twisted thereabout, for a more secure connection, and a pair of opposite grooves thereof reducing the strand to a relatively narrow neck for easier piercing by said cross wires.

    Abstract: A retainer device for the decorative trim sheets of upholstered cushions, particularly cushions wherein the padding material constitutes thick slabs of molded rubber or synthetic foam, constituting an elongated flexible structure molded in the padding along the base of a groove formed in the upper surface of the padding, and including a series of opposed pairs of resilient claw teeth spaced along the length of the flexible structure, a fold of the trim sheet, or a flexible secondary listing member affixed to the trim sheet, being pressed downwardly into the padding groove to be securely engaged between the pairs of claw teeth. A listing wire or other strand may be included in the listing of the trim sheet, for more secure engagement by the claw teeth, for neater arrangement of the trim sheet, and for greater ease of engagement by the teeth. The retainer also has other uses, all related generally to the attachment of trim sheets to other elements of seating structures.

    Abstract: A spring assembly for a seat having a rigid frame including front and rear rails, comprising a flexible deck sheet connected at its rearward edge to said rear frame rail, with its forward edge spaced rearwardly from the front frame rail, a series of angled levers spaced across the forward edge of the deck sheet and vertically pivoted thereon, the longer upper legs of the levers being inclined upwardly to be spaced at their upper ends above the front frame rail to form a bolster support, links connecting the free ends of the shorter lower legs of the levers to the front frame rail, and springs applying elastic tension to the deck sheet, lower level legs and links between the front and rear frame rails.
