  • Patent number: 8792306
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for attracting aquatic animals are provided. In one embodiment, an apparatus for attracting aquatic animals includes a submersible speaker adapted to emit a pre-recorded sound for attracting an aquatic animal. The pre-recorded sound includes tactile sound. The apparatus also includes a controller in communication with the submersible speaker. The controller is adapted to be coupled to an above-water portion of a boat. The controller includes a user interface comprising one or more user-selectable options. The controller is adapted to send a signal to the submersible speaker in response to detecting a selection of one of the user-selectable options, and the submersible speaker emits the pre-recorded, sound in response to receiving the signal.

  • Patent number: 4576231
Abstract: A method and apparatus is applicable to in situ heating of oil shale or tar sand. The heating is by radio frequency that is applied down hole by a central conductor that extends beyond a coaxial shielding conductor to form the antenna or applicator. Encroachment by the heated formation is overcome by applying motion to the central conductor to remove encroaching formations.

  • Patent number: 4164984
Abstract: A garden implement including an elongate, manually engageable handle and a working head at one end of the handle; the head is Z-shaped and has straight laterally spaced parallel cutting blades, a straight central member extending diagonally between oppositely related ends of the blades and joined therewith at acute angles and guard plates at right angle to and extending laterally inwardly from the other ends of the blades; the head is established of thin, narrow strap steel, the opposite edges of which are sharpened to define oppositely disposed cutting edges which are disposed longitudinally with respect to the longitudinal axis of the implement. The implement further includes coupling structure to couple the one end of the handle with the diagonal member, at right angle to and intermediate the ends of that member.

  • Patent number: 4043922
Abstract: A process for the recovery of hydrocarbon materials from a subterranean hydrocarbon-bearing formation by contacting the formation with an aqueous alkaline flooding medium containing a solubilizing agent. Useful solubilizing agents include for example, block-type compounds of the formula: ##STR1## wherein n is an integer of from 1 to about 10 and m is an integer of about 5 to about 40.
