    Abstract: A precipitation device for removing pieces of metal from the lubricating fluid for a transmission includes a screen in the path of flow of the lubricating fluid and a permanent magnet at one end of the screen. The screen is made of a nonmagnetic material such as aluminum and is mounted on a transmission bearing plate so as to be parallel to the main flow path for the lubricating fluid so that partial streams of the lubricant pass through openings in the screen.
