  • Publication number: 20190246611
Abstract: A beehive frame contains a perimeter frame for supporting a foundation sheet. One or both sides of the perimeter framework is/are adapted to provide a foundation on which bees build honeycomb. In one embodiment, the perimeter frame contains apertures or depressions in one or both sides of the perimeter frame. The apertures or depressions each have a dimension similar to or the same as a dimension of a natural honeycomb cell, so that the side or sides of the frame provides a foundation for the bees to build honeycomb. The frame increases yield and is resistant to small hive beetles.

  • Patent number: 9903378
Abstract: A pumping system for evacuating an enclosure comprises a pumping mechanism (30), a motor (32) for driving the pumping mechanism, and a controller (36) for controlling the motor. The controller sets a maximum value for a rotational frequency of the motor and a maximum value for a current in the motor, and, to optimise the performance of the pumping system, independently adjusts the maximum values during evacuation of the enclosure.

  • Patent number: 8753095
Abstract: A pumping system includes a pumping mechanism, a motor for driving the pumping mechanism, a device for supplying power of a variable frequency to the motor, a control device for setting a maximum value for a current in the motor, and a device for supplying to the control device data indicative of the temperature of gas exhaust from the pumping mechanism and a temperature of the stator of the pumping mechanism, wherein the control device is configured to use the received data to adjust the maximum value during operation of the pumping system.

  • Patent number: 8376849
Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided for managing objects on a stereoscopic display. The location of the object on the stereoscopic display is determined and the visual distance of the object from the stereoscopic display is determined. The apparatus and method determines if the visual distance of the object exceeds a threshold value and the appearance of the object is transitioned from (e.g., gradually faded out from) the display if the visual distance exceeds the threshold value. In this manner, the object is properly transitioned on the display so that it does not distract the viewer or appear unnatural.

  • Patent number: 8221521
Abstract: To degas a molten metal, a receptacle containing the molten metal and a layer of slag over the molten metal is positioned in a chamber, and the chamber is evacuated. As the pressure in the chamber reduces, gas is generated at the interface between the molten metal and the slag, which causes the slag to foam. To inhibit overflowing of slag from the receptacle, a gauge outputs a signal indicative of the level of the surface of the slag, and the rate of evacuation of the chamber is reduced to reduce the rate of gas generation.

  • Patent number: 7040939
Abstract: A water intake and transmission system for simultaneously driving dual jet units of a jet boat. According to a preferred embodiment, the water intake includes dual channels to allow the uptake of dedicated streams of water. Mounted to the intake is a housing having first and second jet units encased therein wherein each jet unit receives a dedicated stream of water from a respective channel of the water intake. A transmission is operatively coupled to each respective jet unit and is further connected to the driveshaft of the boat engine, preferably via gears, belt-drives, and/or chain drives, that is operative to simultaneously drive both jet units from a single driveshaft.

  • Patent number: 5924928
Abstract: An assembly including mutually engaged spline teeth includes a rubber isolator, retained in position between an external splined surface, and an internal splined surface is supported against movement and is adapted to contact the lateral face of an adjacent spline tooth so that the isolator is compressed due to rotation of one of the components relative to the other over a range of movement. Then the metal surfaces of the teeth on the first and second components are in mutually contact. In one form, the isolator is retained by an interference fit on a post located within an intervening space between teeth.
