  • Patent number: 4141866
Abstract: Soaps and ester-soaps of high molecular weight .alpha.-alkyl branched aliphatic monocarboxylic acids obtained from high molecular weight .alpha.-olefins are useful lubricants for structural resins. The high molecular weight acids useful for the preparation of the soaps and ester-soaps are obtained by the free radical addition of a short-chain monocarboxylic acid and .alpha.-olefins containing 22 or more carbon atoms. The soaps and ester-soaps of this invention provide excellent internal-external lubrication for PVC homopolymers and copolymers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 23, 1978
Date of Patent: February 27, 1979
    Assignee: Emery Industries, Inc.
    Inventor: Harold C. Foulks, Jr.
  • Patent number: 4107115
Abstract: Soaps and ester-soaps of high molecular weight branched- and straight-chain aliphatic monocarboxylic acids obtained from .alpha.-olefins containing 22 or more carbon atoms are useful lubricants for structural resins. High molecular weight acids useful for the preparation of the soaps and ester-soaps are obtained by the free radical addition of a short chain monocarboxylic acid to C.sub.22+ olefin or by ozonization of the C.sub.22+ olefin. The products of this invention provide excellent internal-external lubrication for PVC homopolymers and copolymers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 6, 1975
Date of Patent: August 15, 1978
    Assignee: Emery Industries, Inc.
    Inventor: Harold C. Foulks, Jr.
  • Patent number: 4065418
Abstract: Ester products useful as lubricants for structural resins are obtained by the reaction of mono- and polyfunctional alcohols with high molecular weight branched-chain aliphatic monocarboxylic acids. The high molecular weight acids useful for the preparation of the present esters are obtained by the free radical addition of a short-chain monocarboxylic acid and .alpha.-olefins containing 22 or more carbon atoms. The esters of this invention provide excellent internal-external lubrication for PVC homopolymers and copolymers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 9, 1976
Date of Patent: December 27, 1977
    Assignee: Emery Industries, Inc.
Inventors: Harold C. Foulks, Jr., Herbert G. Rodenberg, Harold E. Mains
  • Patent number: 4029682
Abstract: Soaps and ester-soaps of high molecular weight branched- and straight-chain aliphatic monocarboxyic acids obtained from .alpha.-olefins containing 22 or more carbon atoms are useful lubricants for structural resins. High molecular weight acids useful for the preparation of the soaps and ester-soaps are obtained by the free radical addition of a short chain monocarboxylic acid to C.sub.22.sub.+ olefin or by ozonization of the C.sub.22.sub.+ olefin. The products of this invention provide excellent internal-external lubrication for PVC homopolymers and copolymers.
