  • Patent number: 4381424
Abstract: A multi-core cable connection for medium voltage cables in which each core connection includes a pair of prefabricated permanently elastic stress control elements, each of which has a sleeve-like main body of insulating material and a conductive sleeve-like insert in the body, extending out of one end thereof and bridging the core insulation and the conductor connector.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 28, 1981
Date of Patent: April 26, 1983
Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company
Inventors: Harold C. Hervig, Dieter Kehr, Raymond Krabs
  • Patent number: 4377547
Abstract: A method for making a molded high voltage splice body by positioning a conductive elastomeric electrode on a mandrel, positioning an extruded conductive elastomeric sleeve over the elastomeric electrode, sealing the ends of the elastomeric sleeve, placing the mandrel with the electrode and sleeve on it into a mold, injecting a curable insulating compound between the electrode and the sleeve under pressure and curing the insulating compound.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 18, 1982
Date of Patent: March 22, 1983
Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company
    Inventor: Harold C. Hervig
  • Patent number: 4326735
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an article and processes for repairing fluid (e.g., liquid and gas) leaks in pipes, including, for example, bell and spigot joints. The device and process of the invention incorporates an elastomeric sleeve that extends around the pipe and longitudinally to either side of the leak. The sleeve contains a resin injection port with means to prevent escape of resin at a pressure above a predetermined pressure, and a fluid venting port with pressure-relief means to permit the escape of fluid at a predetermined pressure above the pressure in the pipe to be repaired.

    Filed: October 14, 1980
Date of Patent: April 27, 1982
Assignee: Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Company
Inventors: David N. Hunder, Harold C. Hervig, Jr.
  • Patent number: 4241004
Abstract: Insulative sheath for high voltage cable splices has inner semiconductive member with inwardly directed bosses for positioning the sheath radially of the cable and splice and for contacting the connector of the splice to suppress corona discharge.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 23, 1979
Date of Patent: December 23, 1980
