  • Patent number: 5961985
Abstract: A combination vaccine, with methods of preparation and treatment, for protection against Gram negative bacterial diseases. The vaccine includes a killed suspension of a bacterial mutant from the taxonomic family Enterobacteriaceae, a B-lymphocyte proliferating immune modulator, and a protein and lipid binding adjuvant. A hyperimmune serum for treating diseased animals is prepared by vaccinating a donor animal with the combination vaccine and then preparing clot serum containing antigen specific antibodies. The mutant is ATCC No. 53000 and is produced by ionizing radiation of Salmonella enteritidis. The immune modulator is a detoxified extract of lipopolysaccharide and is useful with many antigens to enhance primary immune response.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 14, 1997
Date of Patent: October 5, 1999
Assignee: The Curators of the University of Missouri
Inventors: Ronald F. Sprouse, Harold E. Garner

  • Patent number: 5531623
Abstract: A toy welding apparatus includes a spin welding mechanism which is operative for welding thermoplastic articles together utilizing a rotating thermoplastic rod. The apparatus further includes a sparking mechanism for producing sparks during operation of the spin welding mechanism so that the operation of the welding apparatus realistically simulates that of an arc welding apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4998902
Abstract: An improved toppling toy is characterized by a resetting capability that comprises a plurality of finger tip operated actuators, each of which is associated with and coupled to an associated one of the pivotally mounted tiles for joint pivotal movement therewith; and each actuator contains an outer actuator surface exposed on the upper surface of the track to a players finger, such outer surface having a frictional characteristic, whereby dragging movement of the players finger along a finger dragging lane on the track and across and transverse the actuator when the tile is in the down position causes pivoting of the actuator and thereby uprights the associated tile. Suitably the actuator and tile are formed in a unitary one piece structure of molded plastic material. A novel track contains rods to serve as a pivot for the tiles and is also formed of a unitary one piece assembly of molded plastic material.

  • Patent number: 4993985
Abstract: A children's toy car playset contains at least two toy cars, suitably containing low friction wheel and axle structures. Each of the cars contains an anti-collision device that in normal play prevents collisions between the cars, irrespective of the angle of approach at which one of the cars moves toward an other. Suitably the anti-collision device is formed by a permanent magnet with the magnetic fields oriented so that the field lines extend downwardly at least about the periphery of the car.

  • Patent number: 4342175
Abstract: A two-wheeled motorcycle having a frame carrying a drive motor, a radio, a servo mechanism controlled by the radio, and a power source for driving the motor, radio, and servo. The servo mechanism includes a weight which may be moved to one side or the other of a generally vertical plane extending through the motorcycle when it is in an upright position. The steering crown is arranged so that a plane including the axes of the down tube and the fork is behind the main pivot. The axle of the front wheel is in the plane of the fork axes. The plane including these axes intersects the surface upon which the motorcycle rests at an angle in the range of about 20.degree.-25.degree. relative to vertical. The arrangement of the steering crown is such that, when the servo mcves the weight to one side of the generally vertical plane, the front wheel will tend to turn into the direction in which the weight is moved.
