  • Patent number: 7421073
Abstract: The clip-mount operates with a button sub-mount system and includes a body defining a locking cavity for the button and a resilient locking tongue therein. The tongue biases the button into a locking position with a cam surface. A movable cam actuator on the body includes another cam surface which coacts with the first cam permitting the tongue to flex or unlock. An enhancement includes both an unlocking cam and a second locking cam structure. The method includes biasing the button to a locking position and moving one cam over another thereby flexing the tongue from a locked to a button release position. The actuator maybe biased outboard or upward via a plastic spring on the actuator-plunger. A plastic leaf spring may be provided between a clip arm and the button clip mount body. A lock or latch may lock on the actuator-plunger.

  • Publication number: 20080164291
Abstract: A method and apparatus for removably affixing a portable device to an object is disclosed. The apparatus includes a housing defining an inner volume, the housing being couplable to the portable device. The apparatus further includes a retractable fastener having an end region, the end region including an opening for fastening the apparatus to the object, the retractable fastener being slidable within the inner volume. The retractable fastener is positionable at a first position in which the opening is exposed to allow fastening of the apparatus to the object, a second position in which the apparatus is locked to the object and a third position in which the retractable fastener is substantially contained within the inner volume.

  • Publication number: 20060226039
Abstract: The holster for a cellular telephone or a personal electronic device includes a back panel and a front panel which are attached about their respective edge regions to form a capture cavity for the cell phone or device. The front panel has a smooth plastic shield region formed as a one piece shield. A plurality of acoustic vents formed as through passages are defined by the smooth plastic shield.

  • Publication number: 20060113340
Abstract: The clip-on mount attaches to a strap or belt and includes a hinged first and second clam shell or plate member. Interfacing material on interior surfaces embrace and capture the belt or strap. A plate latch closure locks on the belt/strap. A common cell phone attachment (which may also be on a personal electronic device) is on the exterior. The cell phone or personal electronic device is attached to the attachment. The method includes capturing, by compressive force, the strap or belt between two opposing plates, attaching and detaching the plates together and attaching the cell phone or device to one plate.

  • Publication number: 20060105821
Abstract: The carrying case includes front, rear and other sides having at least one swath of elastic material to laterally compress the phone or personal electronic device in the carrying case. The addition of releasable fasteners and/or a strap permits adjustment of the lateral compression. The fasteners may replace the elastic panel. The further addition of a base or bottom cap limits shock and protects the bottom of the carried device. A laterally extending tab can be utilized to enhance further portability of the carrier. A swing cap may be utilized to cover the top end of the carried device.

  • Publication number: 20060052064
Abstract: The carrying case for a cell phone or other small electronic device includes a front, a rear, two opposing sides and a bottom. A resilient plastic bottom end cap forms a protective shield at the bottom. The end cap may include recessed grooves and/or raised lands to enhance impact resistance and/or provide a tactile response structure. The front side wall of the carrier may include a soft cushion edge pad along its upper edge to facilitate phone or device removal and insertion into the carrier. A carrier may also include bands of cushioning material about its sides which define shock resistant elements to protect the intermediate portions of the carried device. To better grip the device or phone, the case may include a swath of elastic with or without a releasable fastener system extending over the swath of elastic.

The tongue biases the button into a locking position. The tongue includes at least one cam surface. A movable cam actuator on the body includes another cam surface which coacts with the first cam permitting the tongue to flex from a locking to an unlocking position. • Publication number: 20040200039
Abstract: The belt clip for a cellular telephone includes a substantially rigid back plate and an expansible fabric layer (or flexible cover) partially covering the front of the back plate. The expansible layer has a degree of elasticity sufficient to secure the cell phone between the expansible layer and the back plate. A common clip (typically, an inverted U-shaped member) is mounted to the rear side of the back plate which enables the wearer to place the retained cell phone and belt clip onto his or her belt. The expansible layer may include a grip tab mounted on a top edge of the expansible layer to facilitate insertion and removal of the cell phone from the interspace between the expansible layer and the back plate. The method includes removably mounting the substantially rigid plate onto the person's belt and at least partially surrounding the cell phone with elastic material and capturing the cell phone between the material and the rigid plate.
