Abstract: An escape ladder including a plurality of cross-pieces or rungs extending in parallelism between and pivotally connected to a pair of side pieces or rails for parallel movement of the latter between an open spaced operative ladder condition and a closed condition with the rungs concealed within the side pieces, at least one side piece being detachably pivotally mounted to a building for use therewith and removal therefrom.
