  • Patent number: 6934148
Abstract: The invention provides a chassis for housing printed circuit boards comprising: a housing having a top, bottom, front, back, left and right side walls, and having a height, measured from the bottom wall to the top wall, that is equal to a 1 rack-unit. The front wall includes an inlet vent, a display module, and a jack and the back side wall includes an exhaust vent. A front wall face plate overlies the inlet vent, display module and jack, with the inlet vent arranged in parallel, overlapping but offset planes. A centrifugal blower is provided inside the chassis housing.

  • Patent number: 5614694
Abstract: An RF shield for use on tightly packed printed circuit boards has a normally-closed lid that can be opened to provide repair access to shielded components and then reclosed. The shield is a five-sided metal can having a top surface (12) with a lid defined on one edge by a fold line (20) and on the other three edges by partial shear lines (22, 24, 26) through the thickness of the metal top surface. The shear lines define frangible connections between the lid and top surface (18) that can be severed to allow the lid to open. The fold line serves as a hinge about which the lid can pivot for opening. Upon closing the lid can be spot-soldered to hold it shut.

  • Patent number: 5576720
Abstract: A mounting assembly to attach an radio frequency antenna to a housing of a communication device for removably securing the antenna to the communication device, the assembly includes an antenna and a circular base member extending from the antenna. The assembly allows for the quick and easy detachment of the antenna from the device without the use of tools. The communication device to which the antenna assembly is attached has a generally tubular shaped opening defining a communication device housing having a circular cross-section for removably receiving the circular base member. The housing includes an outside face, an inside face, and a recessed locking slot extending from the outside face towards the inside face.

  • Patent number: 5398169
Abstract: A microelectronic package (10) comprises a printed circuit board (12) enclosed within a metal housing (14) for shielding the board from spurious electromagnetic signals. The housing includes a base (30) having side walls (36). A series of first tabs (42) are formed in the side walls and engage the upper face (16) of the printed circuit board to secure the board within the housing. The side walls also include a series of second tabs (46) that engage the edge (20) of the printed circuit board in contact with the ground plane to enhance grounding of the housing.
