    Abstract: A cable system component includes a housing having a seal-grasping surface portion and a seal having an elastically deformable tubular body attached to the housing. The body has a posterior sealing surface that cooperatively engages the seal-grasping surface portion of the housing and a forward sealing surface configured to cooperatively engage an interface port. The forward sealing surface includes a radially inner facet divided into a forward portion and a rearward portion by an inner annular groove in the inner facet. The seal includes an anterior portion and a posterior portion connected by a thinned neck portion, the forward portion of the radially inner facet is on the anterior portion, and the rearward portion of the radially inner facet is on the posterior portion.

The forward sleeve portion is configured to be coupled to the cable receiving end of the body, and the plurality of tabs are configured to shear so as to separate the rearward outer ring portion from the forward sleeve portion when a desired force is met as the compression ring is moved relative to the body. The rearward outer ring includes an inner opening when separated from the forward sleeve portion, the separated rearward outer ring is configured to be slidingly moved relative to the body and the coupler, and the inner opening is configured to fit over the coupler such that the rearward outer ring is configured to be a torque assist member.

The forward end includes a tooth extending radially inward, the tooth is configured to contact a surface of a thread of the external threads when the nut is coupled to the interface port, and the tooth is configured to provide ground continuity between the nut and the interface port before the internal threaded portion of the nut is coupled with the external threads. The internal threaded portion and the external threads are configured to provide a retention force between the nut and the interface port.

The nut includes a first end configured to receive a coaxial cable connector. The collet has a first end configured to receive a center conductor of a cable terminated by the coaxial cable connector and a second end configured to be coupled with a port of a cable tap. The collet is configured to provide an electrical connection between the center conductor and the port of the cable tap. The nut is configured to rotate relative to the body and to slide axially relative to the body as limited by the retaining ring. The tap adapter permits the coaxial cable connector to be removed from the tap adapter while the tap adapter remains mechanically coupled with the cable tap and the second end of the collet remains mechanically and electrically coupled with the port.
