    Abstract: Polypropylene impact copolymer compositions containing a nucleating agent demonstrate not only good low temperature properties, including impact strength, but also resistance to stress whitening when the numerical ratio of the intrinsic viscosity of the copolymer rubber phase to the intrinsic viscosity of the homopolymer phase is near unity and ethylene contents of the copolymer phase are in the range of 38% to 60% by weight. The impact copolymer compositions are useful in the production of molded and extruded articles, shaped containers, and films having good clarity.

    Abstract: A blend comprising:(a) an isotactic polypropylene matrix containing an ethylene/propylene copolymer dispersed phase, said combination having dual melting peaks, a first peak in the range of about 150.degree. C. to about 165.degree. C., attributable to the matrix, and a second peak in the range of about 123.degree. C. to about 132.degree. C. having at least about 2.2 calories per gram melting endotherm, attributable to the copolymer, component (a) being present in the blend in an amount of about 60 to about 90 percent by weight based on the weight of the blend; and(b) an ethylene/1-butene copolymer containing about 85 to about 90 percent by weight ethylene; having a density in the range of about 0.890 to about 0.910 gram per cubic centimeter; and having an Mw/Mn ratio of up to about 8, component (b) being present in the blend in an amount of abut 10 to about 40 percent by weight based on the weight of the blend.

    Abstract: A process for the solid phase forming of an impact polypropylene copolymer comprising (a) providing an impact polypropylene copolymer comprising (i) a matrix, which is either a homopolymer of propylene or a copolymer of propylene and up to about 5 percent by weight of at least one other alpha-olefin based on the weight of the copolymer, and, incorporated into said matrix, (ii) a copolymer of ethylene and at least one other alpha-olefin, said copolymer having a crystallinity of at least about 20 percent and being present in the impact copolymer in an amount of at least about 10 percent by weight based on the total weight of the impact copolymer; and (b) forming the impact polypropylene copolymer at a temperature above the melting point of component (ii) but below the melting point of component (i).

    Abstract: High clarity propylene polymer compositions having improved impact strength are comprised of a blend of a random copolymer of propylene and ethylene, containing from about 1 to about 6 wt % polymerized ethylene, with a linear low density polyethylene in a weight ratio range between about 80:20 and about 95:5.
