  • Publication number: 20140207290
Abstract: A device for communicating information from a controller for a rooftop air handling unit to a portable electronic device includes a wire terminal for wiring to the controller and for receiving a signal including information from the controller. The device further includes a transceiver configured to form a direct wireless communications link between the transceiver and portable electronic device. The device yet further includes a circuit coupled to the wire terminal and the transceiver. The circuit is configured to extract the information from the signal. The circuit is further configured to format the information into a format in which the information can be presented to a user by the portable electronic device and to provide the translated information from the transceiver to the portable electronic device.

Abstract: A device for communicating information from a controller for a rooftop air handling unit to a portable electronic device includes a wire terminal for wiring to the controller and for receiving a signal comprising information from the controller. The device further includes a transceiver configured to wirelessly transmit the information to the portable electronic device. The device yet further includes a circuit coupled to the wire terminal and the transceiver. The circuit is configured to extract the information from the signal. The circuit is further configured to provide the information from the wire terminal to the transceiver.

  • Patent number: 5417077
Abstract: The temperature of air leaving a cooling coil is monitored for dropping below various threshold values. The number of cooling stages which chill the refrigerant flowing through the cooling coil is first reduced when the temperature drops below a first threshold and continues to drop relative to a previously sensed temperature. Damper positions governing the amount of air flowing to zones to be cooled are thereafter adjusted when the temperature continues to drop relative to a previously sensed temperature. All adjusted positions are at least maintained relative to a calculated offset value until the temperature rises above a second threshold value greater than the first threshold value. All cooling stages are turned off if the sensed temperature drops below a third threshold value lower than the first threshold.

  • Patent number: 5417368
Abstract: The temperature of the air leaving a heating coil is monitored for rising above a first threshold temperature value. An offset value is calculated for use in the positioning of each damper associated with a zone that is to be heated by air leaving the heating coil when the temperature of the air leaving the heating coil rises above the first threshold value. The offset value for each damper position is maintained until the temperature of the air leaving the heating coil drops below a second threshold temperature lower than the first threshold temperature. Any additional heating sources which also heat the air flowing over the heating coil are turned off immediately if the temperature of the air leaving the cooling coil rises above a third threshold value that is higher than the first threshold value.

  • Patent number: 5402845
Abstract: A process for noting in advance when a change in set point temperature is to occur in one or more zones. A heating stage is prematurely activated and dampers are selectively opened in the one or more zones that are about to experience changes in set point temperature. Activation of a second stage of heating is not permitted unless the zone temperature is lagging the current set point.

  • Patent number: 5305953
Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed for responding to an unpermissible rise in the supply air temperature in any zone of a variable air volume system. A warning is generated to a controller in each zone which adjusts the air flow to the zone within predetermined limits. Different adjustment occur depending on whether the temperature of the space being heated is below the zone setpoint or above the zone setpoint.
