  • Publication number: 20100088664
Abstract: A system for creating and viewing simulation models that are used for managing requirements and design specifications for complex systems. Users simultaneously collaborate on the description of a complex system such as an enterprise software project throughout its life cycle. User interfaces, designed to assist in the visualization of a particular form of knowledge, allow users to describe the complex system with simple interactive elements. Information in all perspectives is presented so that it is legible and discernable to a non-technical audience. Multi-dimensional data structures record all the resulting information, creating a simulation model of the complex system, and the tasks required for construction and maintenance. Tasks are driven from the specifications not as a separate activity, but as part of the same activity to facilitate project management by allowing decisions to be tracked virtually throughout the simulation model.

  • Patent number: 5155877
Abstract: A device for removal of liquid from carpet. The device includes a flexible suction cup having an upward position and a depressed position and absorbent material within the flexible suction cup. A seal is created over the carpet when the flexible suction cup is moved to the depressed position. A vacuum force is created over the carpet when the flexible suction cup is then moved to the upward position in order to draw liquid from the carpet into the absorbent material.

  • Patent number: 4241430
Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for determining the length of a tubular member from a selected end thereof utilizing a hand-held probe wherein means are provided for producing sound pulses at the selected end, means are provided for detecting sound pulses at the selected end, means are provided for sensing the ambient temperature of the air in the vicinity of the inside of the tubular member being measured, means are provided for determining the time elapsed from the moment the sound pulse is generated until the accoustic wave comprising the returning sound pulse is detected by the detecting means, and means are provided for compensating for the increased travel time of the sound pulse occasioned by the sound pulse being reflected from the impedance differential surface set up by the other end of the pipe and spaced from the other end of the pipe.
