  • Patent number: 4112213
Abstract: Acrylate pressure sensitive adhesives are prepared having improved internal strength by preparing tacky acrylate polymers containing alkoxy silyl alkyl groups of the general formula ##STR1## where R' and R" are either CH.sub.3 -- or CH.sub.3 CH.sub.2 -- and R is one of the group consisting of CH.sub.3 --; CH.sub.3 CH.sub.2 --; CH.sub.3 O--; and CH.sub.3 CHO--, andn is a number of 0 through 8In an amount of 0.01 to 1.0 percent by weight, based on the weight of the acrylate polymer, spreading a solution of the acrylate polymer onto a substrate, removing the solvent from the substrate and crosslinking the polymer by heating with or without the presence of a catalyst. The acrylate polymers contain in interpolymerized form at least 50 percent by weight, based on the weight of the polymer, of alkyl acrylate monomer having alkyl group of C.sub.4 to C.sub.12 carbons.
