  • Patent number: 6234871
Abstract: An apparatus for removing a thin film of material from a portion (23) of a sheet of fabric (22) and its method of operation, includes a grinder wheel (19) spaced from a nip roller (29) which is carried by an arm (32). The initial spacing between the grinder wheel (19) and the nip roller (29) is established by an adjusting mechanism (37) which pivots the arm (32), that spacing being determined by the expected thickness of the fabric (22). Pinch rollers (27) move the fabric (22) through the space, and a thickness-sensing wheel (44) rides on the fabric (22) upstream of the nip roller (29). Upon a change in the thickness of the fabric (22), a sensing arm (45) which carries the sensing wheel (44) pivots which, through a link arm (54), pivots a regulator arm (61) which carries a follower roller (70) that rides on the arm (32). Such allows the nip roller (29) to move toward or away from the grinder wheel (19) dependent on the thickness of the fabric (22) sensed by the movement of the sensing wheel (44).

  • Patent number: 5159233
Abstract: A spark plug (20, 66) which includes a shell (22) having a ground electrode (24) formed integrally therewith into a predetermined final configuration, an annular insulator (34) with a bore (37) extending therethrough, and an electrode (48) positioned within the bore. The insulator is positioned within the opening of the shell by a press fit operation, and the electrode is also positioned within the bore of the insulator by a press fit method.

  • Patent number: 4854185
Abstract: A manually operated and locked conduit length adjuster system comprising a cable adapted to be connected at one end to an actuator and at the other end to a device to be actuated, a first length of conduit adapted to be attached at one end to a fixed point and at the other end to a manually locked conduit length adjuster. The manually locked conduit length adjuster includes a plastic body adapted to be attached to the first length of conduit and having an opening through which a plastic slider extends. The slider includes annular teeth and the plastic body includes a locking member integrally hinged to the plastic body and adapted to be moved into position to cause teeth thereon to engage the teeth on the slider. The locking member has other portions thereof which engage the body for locking the locking member in position.

  • Patent number: 4740129
Abstract: A device for separating slices of bread from sliced loaves of bread and for transferring the separated slices one by one to a conveyor for further processing. The device incorporates an inclined, intermittently driven infeed conveyor for conveying the slices of bread in generally upright positions and in surface-to-surface contact with one another to a separating and transfer position. The separating and transfer position incorporates a primary rotatable member which rotates about its horizontally extending central axis. The primary rotatable member carries a plurality, for example, four, of secondary rotatable members, each of which rotates about its longitudinal central axis, which is spaced outwardly from and extends generally parallel to, the longitudinal central axis of the primary rotatable member.
