  • Patent number: 6314236
Abstract: A hair dryer having a heater, a fan positioned to form an air flow that is heated by the heater, a battery and a switch connected in circuit with the fan and the battery. An interlock prevents the switch from closing during the time the hair dryer is inserted in a base for charging the battery and heating the heater via an electrical power source. An arc prevention assembly prevents arcing among contacts on the hair dryer and the base during insertion and removal of the dryer to and from the base.

  • Patent number: 6269549
Abstract: A hair dryer in accord with the invention includes a hood, two staggered or asymmetrically placed fans in a base, and an airflow conduit therebetween. The hood of the device may also have an adjustable vent for regulating the amount of air delivered to the head. Moreover, the hood may be secured to the base so as to close the device into a compact form for carrying and storage.

  • Patent number: 6199295
Abstract: A detachable or integral nozzle for a hair dryer is shown that can easily be modified from a first configuration delivering a stream of hot air with an approximately circular cross section, until a stream of air is produced with an approximately rectangular cross section, that is broad and flat. The nozzle includes a sleeve fitted with two folding vents capable of making an axial pivoting movement about geometrical axes, and a pair of flaps capable of making a pivoting movement about geometrical axes perpendicular to the pivot axes of the folding vents.

  • Patent number: 6056160
Abstract: A dispenser for heating and dispensing, to a user through an outlet, a foaming liquid, such as shaving cream from a pressurized can of such cream. The foaming liquid, when initially heated in the dispenser's heat chamber may undesirably produce steam and or a runny liquid that would be dangerous or at least undesirable to a user. In accordance with the invention, a trap is placed near the outlet to capture the steam or runny liquid. Since shaving cream cans come in two lengths, in accordance with another aspect of the invention, a reversible end cap is disclosed which will retain either of two sizes of shaving cream in the dispenser.

  • Patent number: 5998965
Abstract: A cordless modular power tool having a battery module, a motor module and a tool module that can be a saw, drill, toothbrush, flosser and the like. First and second electrical plug units are situated on the battery and motor modules respectively. The battery module plug unit is used in a d.c. mode to supply d.c. current to the motor and in an a.c. mode to receive a.c. current for charging the battery. Switching between the two modes is accomplished during plugging and unplugging of the two modules by locating a magnet in the motor module which influences an actuator arm in battery module to do the switching.

  • Patent number: 5921254
Abstract: A power flossing device having only seven parts, namely, a driver element, a driver arm, a flossing head, a retainer, a housing, a seal and a glamour cap. The driver arm is coupled with the driver element and the flossing head. The driver element is responsive to rotary motion provided by a power source to impart to the driver arm both an oscillatory motion along its length dimension and a wobbling motion component transverse to the length dimension. This results in elliptical motion of a length of floss held by the flossing head. The driver element is a unitary structure that has an eccentric hole into which the driver arm is slidably situated to produce the wobbling motion as the driver element revolves and further has a cam follower that coacts with a cam on the driver arm to produce the oscillatory motion. The driver arm and cam is also a unitary structure.
