  • Patent number: 8230982
Abstract: New elevator cab construction and reconstruction of old elevator cabs are frequently presented with the problem of increasing the interior size of the elevator cab in an elevator shaft of limited size. This invention relates to an elevator cab design providing a novel way of increasing internal cab size of a standard elevator cab while still retaining decorative design features by having removable decorative panels. The elevator cab is constructed of the normal elements, namely, a platform, a ceiling, cab shell walls, stiffeners and corner stiffener risers. The cab shell walls have a base and transom and shell panels there between designed to overlap one another so as to be readily attached by spot welding or adhesive. The stiffeners are hat-shaped elongated sections typically of stainless steel that are attached to the inside of the shell panels. The stiffeners may also be formed by hat-shaped ribs formed in the shell panels.

  • Patent number: 7788854
Abstract: An elevator entrance sill assembly and method of installing and leveling of an elevator sill are provided. An elevator entrance sill assembly is provided for mounting at the elevator entrance adjacent to the elevator shaft. The sill is mounted to a support assembly which provides the necessary stiffness to prevent the sill from flexing. Hinge supports are attached to the sill assembly and mounted on the building floor adjacent to the elevator shaft and rotatable to extend upwardly from the floor and out of the elevator shaft. The door sill assembly is attachable to the hinge support while in the upward or vertical position out of the elevator shaft. The hinge support and the sill assembly are rotatable downwardly to a horizontal position on the floor after attachment of the sill assembly to the hinge support with the sill assembly extending into the elevator shaft.

  • Patent number: 6938380
Abstract: This invention relates to a cost saving way of solving a difficult problem in the structure and installation and leveling of an elevator sill. This invention provides ease of installing from the hallway without the use of a moving elevator platform. The structure consists of a sill, a cradle for the sill and a pair of end brackets for supporting the cradle. The pair of spaced L-shaped end brackets are provided for attachment to the hall floor. A vertically adjustable sill cradle is supported at its end portions by the brackets and a horizontally and vertically adjustable sill is mounted on the sill cradle. The elevator door sill cradle is adjustable vertically by means of fasteners that are moveable in vertical slots in the end brackets and is horizontally adjustable on the cradle by means of fasteners that are moveable in horizontal slots provided in the cradle.

  • Patent number: 6202798
Abstract: This invention relates to an improved sliding entrance door assembly for an elevator and to the method of installing the assembly. In one embodiment the assembly includes one or more stationary panels affixed to the frame. The stationary panels are comprised of a side panel and a transom panel. The side panel replaces the wall adjacent to the elevator opening. The transom panel is located above the sliding entry door and the side panel. By using the stationary panel, which is thinner than a conventional wall, the sliding entry door assembly uses less of the hallway space. In an alternate embodiment, two sliding entry doors are installed in the frame. They are in separate planes so that one door can slide behind the other. The advantages to the present door assembly is that it may be installed in less time and the assembly requires less space than conventional door assemblies. Also the assembly closes the gap to the shaftway as soon as it is installed.

  • Patent number: 6145630
Abstract: This invention relates to an improved sliding entrance door assembly for an elevator and to the method of installing the assembly. In one embodiment, the elevator sliding entrance door assembly comprises, viewed from the hallway, a sill, a left vertical post having a top portion, a right vertical post having a top portion and positioned parallel to the left post, a header formed with an open notch connected to the left and right posts, a door frame consisting of a strike jamb, head jamb and return jamb attached to the header, one post and sill. An elevator door track is attached to the header. The assembly also includes a sliding elevator door having rolling means to rollingly suspend the door from the track, the door being adjustable after being suspended through the opening formed in the header. In addition, the slide sill having a groove therein which defines a lower track for the door extends between the left post and the right post.

  • Patent number: 5673770
Abstract: The sliding door assembly for an elevator and a method for replacing an existing swinging elevator door with a sliding elevator door. The swinging door assembly is removed and is replaced in situ with a sliding elevator door assembly. A portion of the wall adjacent to the elevator door is removed, permitting the sliding door to slide into the part of the wall which has been removed. The part of the wall which has been removed and in which the sliding door fits is covered by a stationary panel. In another embodiment, there are two sliding doors that slide behind the side stationary panel. A left sliding entrance door and a right sliding entrance door are in separate planes so that one of the doors can slide behind the other.
