  • Patent number: 4209661
Abstract: A clamping device comprising an elongated wedge body having a bifurcated end, and a second end opposite the bifurcated end. The wedge body is of substantially rectangular transverse cross-sectional configuration, and is relatively thick at the second end, tapering to a relatively thin dimension at the bifurcated end. The wedge body has first and second sides extending between its bifurcated and second ends. Each of these sides carries a plurality of longitudinally spaced, contiguous teeth or serrations over a major portion of its length. The bifurcation in one end of the wedge body defines a pair of spaced, substantially parallel legs, which legs have continuations of the teeth or serrations extended along one side thereof, and are relatively smooth on the opposite side thereof. In a useful combination, the clamping device retains an electrical conductor in place at the location where it enters a knock-out window in a synthetic resin electrical box.

  • Patent number: 4172578
Abstract: A device for clamping conduit which includes a U-shaped body portion having a recess therein located between two legs of the body portion, and a toothed jaw portion positioned at the bottom of the recess for engaging a pipe or conduit. A clamping portion is hingedly secured to one of the legs of the body portion at the free end thereof by an integral flexible hinge, and is adapted to fold about the hinge to enclose the pipe or conduit in the recess by means of a second toothed jaw portion formed on the clamping portion. Each of the legs of the body portion carries a protuberant apertured flange with the apertures in the flanges positioned for alignment with corresponding apertures in the clamping portion when the clamping portion is pivoted to its recess closing position. The aligned apertures in the flanges and clamping portions can then be used for receiving fasteners extended through these apertures and into a supporting surface such as a wall or the like.

  • Patent number: 4083465
Abstract: A spring fastener or clip of generally V-shaped configuration and including a first, substantially monoplanar leg joined to a second, substantially monoplanar leg through a bend portion so that the legs define between them an acute angle from about 43.degree. to about 48.degree.. The second leg has a circular aperture formed through a central portion, and the first leg has a tongue or tine pressed out of a central portion of the first leg and projecting generally toward the center of the aperture in the second leg, and at an acute angle of from about 22.degree. to about 28.degree. to the plane of the first leg. The tongue projects a distance from the plane of the first leg, as measured normal to that plane, and so as to include the thickness of the first leg, which is from about one-half to about two-thirds of the total distance of projection of the bend portion of the fastener from the plane of the first leg, also as measured normal to the plane of the first leg, and so as to include the thickness thereof.

  • Patent number: 4073514
Abstract: The combination of a spring metal retainer ring with a pipe or conduit fitting having an annular seat for accommodation of the retainer ring, and further having a cylindrical passageway therein coaxial with the ring for receiving a pipe or conduit through the ring. The retainer ring includes an annular band which has a plurality of circumferentially spaced tabs projecting radially outwardly at an obtuse angle with respect to the plane of the band and projecting axially with respect to the axis of the band. The retainer ring further includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced, radially inwardly directed tabs connected thereto, and extending in the opposite axial direction from the direction of axial extension from the band of said first mentioned tabs.

  • Patent number: 4037810
Abstract: An improved pipe bracket and clamp for holding a pipe or conduit in a manner minimizing heat and sound transmission, preventing electrolysis or galvanic action and avoiding pipe rupture through thermal expansion and contraction. The clamp is preferably formed of a resilient synthetic resinous material in a unitary structure comprising a U-shaped body portion having a recess therein in which a toothed jaw portion is formed to receive and engage a pipe or conduit. A clamping portion is hingedly secured to the body portion by an integral flexible hinge and is adapted to fold about the hinge to enclose and engage the pipe or conduit in the recess by means of a corresponding toothed jaw portion formed on the clamping portion. A flange portion on the body portion includes an aperture which comes into alignment with a corresponding aperture in the clamping portion through which apertures a fastener may be received to clamp the pipe or conduit and secure it to a wall structure or the like.

  • Patent number: 4036389
Abstract: A spring fastener of generally V-shaped configuration and including a first, substantially monoplanar leg joined to a second substantially monoplanar leg through a bend portion defining an acute angle of from about 43.degree. to about 48.degree.. The second leg defines a circular aperture therethrough, and the first leg has a tongue pressed out of a central portion thereof, and projecting toward said second leg at an acute angle to said first leg. The tongue projects a distance from the plane of the first leg, as measured normal to that plane, which is from about one-half to about two-thirds of the total distance of projection of said bend portion from the plane of the first leg, also as measured normal to the plane of said first leg.The invention also includes and relates to fasteners of the type described in combination with a synthetic resin box which has an open side. The box carries a pair of the fasteners by having the described first leg of each fastener pressed into an accommodating slot in the box.
