    Abstract: Generating luminance uniformity in a rear projection display system is provided. The method comprises calculating luminance generated by a projector on a rear projection screen relative to a design eye position in front of the screen. A baseline luminance is determined for each primary color according to the luminance. Luminance of all locations on the screen is corrected toward the baseline. Correction is allocated between an optical filter and electronic correction. Luminance is measured at calibration points on the screen. The electronic correction for a color image is adjusted according to the allocation and the luminance at the calibration points to produce a corrected color image for projection from the projector. The corrected color image is projected from the projector and through the optical filter. The optical filter is configured to dim specified areas within the corrected color image according to the allocation.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for ropeless fishing. The ropeless fishing system includes a surface subsystem installed on a vessel and at least one submerged subsystem submerged in a body of water. The surface subsystem includes acoustic transceiver and acoustic transducer units, which are configured to generate and omnidirectionally transmit an acoustic interrogation signal into the body of water surrounding the vessel and to directionally receive acoustic reply signals. The submerged subsystems include a compressed gas source and an enclosed flotation bag in fluid communication and an underwater acoustic actuator-transponder unit configured to receive the acoustic interrogation signal transmitted by the surface subsystem and to transmit an acoustic reply signal into the body of water. In addition, the submerged subsystem is further configured to control the flow of gas between the compressed gas source and the enclosed floatation bag to facilitate recovery of the submerged subsystem.

The system includes a filter-and-forward (FF) relaying method with superimposed training sequences for separately estimating the backhaul and the access channels. To reduce inter-relay interference, a generalized filtering technique is provided which multiplexes the superimposed training sequences from different relays to the destination by time-division multiplexing (TDM), frequency-division multiplexing (FDM) and code-division multiplexing (CDM) methods.

Boundary conditions may be selected based on a non-periodic vanishing signal. The received wave packets may be configured as solitons. The nonlinear channel may be an optical channel.
