  • Patent number: 5816535
Abstract: The invention is a control system for the emergency jettison of a cargo container extraction parachute from a cargo container within an aircraft, the aircraft having a plurality of cargo containers onboard that are ejectable in sequence. In detail, the system includes a load transfer coupling coupled to each extraction parachute for releasing the extraction chute from the cargo container upon receipt of electrical power. A first circuit is coupled to the load transfer coupling, the first circuit for providing the electrical power to the load transfer coupling of the next ejectable cargo container upon receiving an actuation signal to release the extraction parachute. A second circuit is used to sense when each of the plurality of cargo containers has been ejected from the aircraft and to provide the cargo container ejection signal to the first circuit upon the cargo container being ejected from the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 5697581
Abstract: A system and method for aerial cargo delivery is disclosed that uses a linkless towplate having an eccentric cam and a pin. The cargo flexible tension member is isolated from the force of a deployed drogue parachute by a frictional holding force generated by the eccentric cam and the pin. A system and method for aerial cargo delivery is also disclosed that uses a towplate with a link assembly. The towplate has two cylinders that hold the cargo flexible tension member and the drogue parachute flexible tension member.

  • Patent number: 4831869
Abstract: A method and apparatus for measuring cell adhesion with each other or with surfaces wherein a fluid containing a suspension of the cells is accelerated from a first velocity lower than a second velocity whilst flowing through a measuring chamber a surface of which constitutes a substratum to which adhesion of the cells is to be measured, and the distance along the substratum to which the cells adhere for a known initial flow rate is measured.

  • Patent number: 4192246
Abstract: An acoustic homing torpedo which has an acoustic window and a nose section with the window-torpedo shell interface being positioned at a location aft of the acoustic transducers in the nose so as to minimize unwanted flow noise.
