  • Publication number: 20220316135
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing modified cellulose fibers for a moldable cellulose fiber based material, said method comprising: a) providing a chemical or semi-chemical wood pulp comprising cellulose fibers, and optionally subjecting the pulp to alkaline extraction to obtain an alkaline extracted pulp; and b) subjecting the pulp or the alkaline extracted pulp of step a) to a chemical treatment with an alkaline solution and/or an organic solvent to obtain a treated pulp or treated alkaline extracted pulp comprising modified cellulose fibers for a moldable cellulose fiber based material. The invention further relates to a moldable cellulose fiber based material comprising at least 70% by dry weight of modified cellulose fibers obtainable by the method.

  • Patent number: 10266688
Abstract: The present invention relates to surface-modified cellulose nanofibers, which are used to improve fiber-matrix adhesion, resulting in biodegradable nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC)-polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) composites, which can be used to form structures such as films, with excellent mechanical performance. Particularly, the present invention relates to a bio composite resin composition wherein the surface of cellulose nanofibers have been chemically modified, a method for producing such composite resin composition and a casting-sheet composite body.

  • Publication number: 20180327514
Abstract: The present invention concerns a process for the covalent attachment of lignin to cellulose in aqueous solutions, which process is characterized by preparing an aqueous mixture of lignin particles modified with tall oil fatty acids (TOFA), and reacting these TOFA-modified lignin particles with cellulose particles. The obtained modified cellulose particles are biodegradable, and have antimicrobial properties, whereby they are suitable for use in antibacterial textile surfaces (sportswear, medical textiles), tissue adhesives and as porous carriers in drug delivery. Further, the material is useful in high-volume products, such as adhesives and dispersants.

  • Publication number: 20140088252
Abstract: A method for preparing a specific product from a polysaccharide in which at least one hydroxyl of a saccharide unit is substituted with an ether or ester moiety. The ether or ester moiety is provided with ethenyl and/or epoxy functionality for preparing an activatable polysaccharide polymer and the activatable polysaccharide polymer with ethenyl and/or epoxy functionality is optionally reacted with an additional coupling reagent, having at least two coupling functionality for preparing polysaccharide polymer with additional activatable crosslinker.
