  • Patent number: 5035263
Abstract: A vehicle wash apparatus includes a reciprocating gantry-type framework with rotating fluid dispensers along an upper extent thereof and at opposite sides thereof which are adapted to be rotated to deliver washing fluid at the vehicle as the apparatus traverses the length of the vehicle. A tilt mechanism is provided so that the rotating manifolds acan be tilted at opposite ends of the vehicle to direct the cleaning fluid at the ends of the vehicle when the apparatus is positioned adjacent the ends of the vehicle. A unique bearing seal element supports the rotating manifolds on a rotatably driven coupling from a motor so that liquid can be delivered to the rotating manifolds in a leak-free environment and over an extended life. An ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene material is utilized in bearing seal members in the element which serve both as a liquid seal and a bearing surface.

  • Patent number: 5035122
Abstract: The present invention comprises a container having a top and bottom or two-part form, the outer shell of the container is made of a shock-resistant thermoplastic material having a maximum possible deterrent to heat transfer. The interior of the container on each part thereof contains an envelope containing the freezable gel which is sealed and made of a stiff plastic material which generally holds its form even when the gel therein is unfrozen. The envelope on each side is spaced from the interior wall of the outer casings in both instances to provide an air barrier within which moisture within the barrier has been removed to the maximum extent possible. The gel within the frozen envelopes can be placed in a frozen state by various methods. The two portions of the container may be joined together either by a hinged element along one side of the corresponding locking mechanism on the opposite side or by a plurality of locking mechanisms on at least two opposite sides of the container.

  • Patent number: 5036219
Abstract: A precise, high speed CMOS track (sample)/hold circuit uses a first circuit leg including four Schottky barrier diodes configured to form a Wheatstone bridge, a second leg with a single n-channel MOS transistor, an essentially constant current source having MOS transistors, a capacitor for holding output signal, and reverse biasing circuitry having MOS transistors for selectively reverse biasing the four diodes. An analog input signal is applied to the cathode of the first diode and to the anode of the second diode. An output signal of the same magnitude and polarity as the input signal is generated at an output terminal (the cathode of the third diode and the anode of the fourth diode) of the circuit when current flows through the first circuit leg.

  • Patent number: 5033846
Abstract: A lightwave component analyzer and method for determining chromatic dispersion in single mode optical fiber. The lightwave component analyzer initially performs various measurements that are used in the determination of chromatic dispersion in single mode optical fiber. The lightwave component analyzer then computes a chromatic dispersion factor using the measured parameters, as well as additional parameters which are stored in the analyzer or entered by a user. Various expressions are described for computation of chromatic dispersion in single mode optical fiber.

  • Patent number: 5033868
Abstract: A reusable flexible plastic bag is provided with a handle which serves to carry the bag and to reseal it. The bag is manufactured from two webs: a web from which the bag panels are formed and a web from which a loop handle is formed. The top end of the bag is not provided with a gusset. The loop handle is secured to the bag panels and is provided with a frangible region which can be broken to form two separate handle portions. The handle portions are releasably joined by mating slide closure structure. The slide closure joint can be peeled away by pulling the handle portions apart thereby providing access to the folded top end of the bag. The top end of the bag may be provided with perforations which may be broken to gain access to the bag contents. The bag may be resealed by means of the handle slide closure.

  • Patent number: 5031864
Abstract: The disclosed multi-use clamp consists of a unitary body having an elongated pointed shank and a hook cantilevered off of the shank opposite the pointed end. The hook has first and second concavely curved portions located outwardly adjacent the shank. These curved portions having curvatures corresponding to the outside surface of two differently sized conventional conduits, and the centers of these respective curvatures are spaced from the shank a distance corresponding to the curvature itself. A commercial version of the clamp would have the curvature of the inner curved portion correspond to a 1/2" size conduit, and would have the curvature of the outer curved portion correspond to a 3/4" size conduit. The clamp can thus be used with either size conduit, being driven into and be rigidly secured to a support structure, with the hook overlying the conduit for holding it relative to the support structure.
