  • Patent number: 7222460
Abstract: A cover for a concrete construction has a pair of anchor-engaging members extending from a disk-shaped body. The anchor-engaging members include fins which are configured to engage an anchor formed into a recess of a concrete block or wall to cover the recess. • Patent number: 6857235
Abstract: A protective cover for a reinforcing bar including a collar structure defining a perimeter portion and having an open end for receiving the end of a rebar. A cap portion is connected to the collar structure oriented substantially perpendicularly to the collar structure and including a support portion formed integrally with the collar structure. The cap portion further includes a barrier plate supported on the support portion and defining an exposed upper surface of the cover. • Patent number: 6099196
Abstract: A splice for concrete reinforcement bars includes two diametrically opposed half-shells spanning the aligned ends of the rebars. The half-shells interlock with upset bar ends to hold the bars together. An internally tapered sleeve is forced axially over the tapered exterior of the half-shells in a taper lock to secure the splice joint.

  • Patent number: 6089779
Abstract: A quick connect splice for concrete reinforcement bars includes two diametrically opposed half-shells spanning the aligned ends of the rebars. The half-shells interlock with raised ridges on the bar surfaces to hold the bar ends together. Two sleeve elements slipped over the bars are screwed to each other over the shell sections to secure the splice joint.

  • Patent number: 5967691
Abstract: A quick-connect splice joint for concrete reinforcement bars. Two diametrically opposed semi-cylindrical shells span the adjacent bar ends. The two shells are held against axial displacement by mating to raised features such as ridges or threads on the bars, and are held radially by an outer sleeve. The splice is axially preloaded by nuts threaded on the bars.

  • Patent number: 5491941
Abstract: A rebar splice joint embedded in a reinforced concrete structure and having improved seismic resistance is made between a first rebar with an internal thread and a second rebar element having a male thread between a stop shoulder and the end of the rebar. The bar length between the stop shoulder and the male threaded bar end is shorter than the length of the internal thread. The male thread is turned into the internal thread and the first rebar is torqued against the stop shoulder to near the elastic limit of the bars to elastically deform the male and female threads into more uniform contact along their opposing thread surfaces thereby increasing contact area between the threads to reduce or eliminate relative axial movement between the rebars under cyclic axial loading, such as seismic loading.

  • Patent number: 5383740
Abstract: Disclosed is a combination hybrid splice sleeve which has a threaded end for making a mechanical joint with a male thread on a rebar end, and an opposite end open for receiving a second rebar, which need not be threaded, for making a grout joint between the sleeve and the second rebar. This sleeve has a tapering cross section between a wide end and a narrow end, with internal radial ridges of constant height spaced between the two opposite ends. A threaded cylindrical bore is axially aligned in the wide end for screwing to a first rebar. The narrow end is open for receiving a second rebar. Two grout ports open radially into the sleeve. The first grout port is near to the narrow end, and the second grout port is proximal to the threaded bore. The second grout port is of smaller aperture than the first grout port, for partially restricting out flow of grout injected through the first grout port, to encourage filling of the sleeve by building up some back pressure.

  • Patent number: 4619096
Abstract: Rebars to be embedded in a monolithic concrete structure are spliced together; also deformed rebars are spliced together across an expansion joint or construction joint between two or more monolithic concrete pours in that one rebar is provided with a threaded receiver barrel, possibly having a flange, and into which is introduced the, preferably, expanded and threaded end of the other rebar; no third splicing element is involved. Short rebars with a receiver at one end can also serve for defining anchor points in the outer surface of a concrete structure.

  • Patent number: 4204711
Abstract: A flared tube sitting on a base is embedded in a concrete slab, and a casement on a shackle can be inserted into the tube to make up the coupling. The casement holds a plunger which can be locked into a position in which its head urges balls out of the casement for engagement with the flare tube. The plunger lock includes a fork locking the casement to the plunger at the other end. The plunger head has a conical tip so that upon retraction the balls can be retracted to release the coupling or to insert the casement to make up the coupling. The flared tube is clamped down onto the base which in turn is constructed for fastening to re-bar structure in the concrete.

  • Patent number: 4158940
Abstract: A joist hanger has a shroud with a rear wall and side walls with aligned openings for receiving the legs of a U-shaped pin. A jack screw, straddled by the legs, or a simple support plate rests on the pin to support a joist end. An L angle piece is welded or hinged to the rear wall. The level of the joist can be changed by the jack screw, and/or by turning a threaded hinge bolt, permitting the shroud to ride up or down on the bolt.
