Abstract: A hermetically sealed tank gauge apparatus which continuously monitors the fluid level in a closed crude oil tank. A sensor device measures the liquid level in the tank. The sensor device communicates with the interior of the tank, and is isolated from ambient, so that no dangerous gases can escape from the tank, through the tank gauge apparatus, and into the surrounding atmosphere. The sensor device is arranged to continuously drive a recorder apparatus in response to change in liquid level thereof so that the quantity of fluid flowing into and out of the tank over a long interval of time can be ascertained. The sensor device and the recorder are tamper proof and enable accurate records of tank contents to be recorded.

Abstract: A signal actuated recorder device has a recording drum connected to be actuated only when sensing a signal. The recorder is connected to measure the torque employed to make up joints of tubular goods into a string, for example, and can also be used in other applications, such as the testing of joints of pipe.In making up a string of production tubing, a hydraulic strain gauge assembly is connected to the tubing tongs to measure the magnitude of torque imparted into the tubular goods. The pressure signal from the piston of the gauge actuates a motor of the recorder which advances the drum one increment. At the same time, the pressure signal is utilized to move a scribe in proportion to the magnitude of the signal.

Abstract: A cable guide means comprised of spaced spools having spaced grooves thereon for guiding a cable to and from a cable driven drum so that spaced marginal lengths of the cable do not wear against one another as the cable changes directions in order to be rove about the drum.
