    Abstract: A golf clubhead is provided having a flat clubface and a flat rear surface parallel to the clubface. The overall thickness of the clubhead is less than 0.40 inch so that the center of gravity of the clubhead without the hosel is less than 0.20 inch behind the clubface. By achieving a center of gravity this close to the clubface, a minimal moment arm is created when the clubhead strikes a ball off-center so that a minimum loss of distance results from off-center hits and a minimum dispersion results from off-center hits.

    Abstract: A wooden golf clubhead assembly is provided having an obround swingweight carried in the clubface. The club assembly has a relatively narrow width relative to the length of the clubface. The clubface is flat and the overall assembly has a center of gravity relatively close to the clubface resulting in greater accuracy for off-center hits.

    Abstract: A wood golf clubhead assembly is provided having a substantial metal swingweight, located approximately parallel to the flat striking face, within a peripheral groove and bonded therein with adhesive. The new metal swingweight extends to the contour of the wood clubhead and is made to incorporate peripheral weight distribution, including heel and toe, as desired.
