  • Patent number: 7743446
Abstract: A composite a deck system having a deck component and a concrete component. The deck component of the present invention includes deck sections, each having a longitudinally-extending rib with spaced apart sidewalls connected to a top wall. At the opposing ends of the sidewalls can be included side edges or webs having upturned flanges with an opening or openings along the flanges that are dimensioned to facilitate composite action between the deck sections and the concrete. The system includes a first deck section, as described, adjacent to a second deck section, wherein the side edges of the first and second deck sections are in juxtaposed relation. These deck sections can be combined with concrete to form a composite deck.

  • Publication number: 20050264048
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a seat and cargo carrier apparatus for a vehicle. The seat and cargo carrier apparatus includes a base, a seat assembly, and a wall unit. The seat member is pivotally connected to the base so that the seat assembly is movable between a seating position and a cargo carrying position. In the seating position, the seat assembly provides a seat or bench on which an individual may sit. In the cargo carrying position, the seat assembly is pivoted to provide a deck on which cargo may be carried. The wall unit is also pivotally connected to the base so that the wall unit is moveable between a lowered position and a raised position. In the lowered position, the wall unit provides a step and footrest when the seat assembly is in the seating position. In the raised position, the base the seat assembly and the wall unit cooperate to form a cargo box for securing cargo positioned on the deck.

  • Patent number: 6697953
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for dynamically invoking power saving options in a battery powered device, such as a cellular telephone, so that the period of use or run-time of the device is extended. The user settable power saving options alter operation of the device in a way that reduces power consumption and extends run-time. The power saving options define the ways by which power is saved, such as less intensity for a backlight or slower scanning for a wireless accessory, and when they are invoked, based in part on a determination of the estimated or measured actual capacity in the battery. For example when a battery is at full capacity, all features may be fully operable and as the battery discharges some of the features may be disabled or work with reduced performance.
