  • Publication number: 20240243389
Abstract: An electrical energy storage device includes a plurality of individual cells that are electrically connected with one another in series and/or in parallel and a plurality of thermal barrier elements that are each respectively disposed between two individual cells of the plurality of individual cells. Each of the plurality of thermal barrier elements has one or two compressible outer layers and an incompressible layer disposed next to the one compressible outer layer or between the two compressible outer layers.

  • Publication number: 20230216137
Abstract: The present invention relates to a barrier for preventing the propagation of a thermal event within a multi-cell battery module, comprising a framework structure and a heat-absorbing material, which comprises water and a component based on biogenic raw materials. Furthermore, the invention relates to a multi-cell battery module and a battery comprising at least one such barrier. Finally, the present invention also relates to a method for preventing the propagation of a thermal event within a multi-cell battery module.

  • Publication number: 20170149073
Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement and a method for the controlled discharge of an energy store using redox shuttle additives and to the use of redox shuttle additives for the controlled discharge of an energy store. The energy store arrangement comprises a storage container with a redox shuttle additive which is dispensed into the electrolytes of the energy store upon triggering a dispensing device such that the energy store is partly or completely discharged, wherein the redox shuttle additive is oxidized on the cathode and reduced on the anode. The redox shuttle additive has a redox potential which is less than or equal to the potential of the partially or completely discharged cathode and greater than or equal to the potential of the partially or completely discharged anode.
