  • Patent number: 4225805
Abstract: The invention provides discrete means for temporarily covering a substantially annular U-shaped effusive material container for use in a cathode ray tube. The annular covering member is likewise substantially U-shaped and, being of smaller dimensioning, is telescopically fitted within the container to cover the effusive material disposed therein. The inner and outer walls of the channeled cover are contiguous with the respective walls of the container to form the two concentric laminated composite walls of the assembly. The laminated components comprising each wall are joined in an interlocking manner by a substantially continuous annular deformation of the respective composite wall structure thereby effecting positive securement of the cover to the container.

  • Patent number: 4160187
Abstract: Improvement is provided in a color cathode ray tube of the post-deflection acceleration type, in the form of an operational system including related tube geometry. An electron barrier, consisting of a metallic film having a defined voltage penetration threshold, is adheringly disposed on the surface of the screen. The potential on the screen is in the order of substantially 20 to 40 kilovolts while the potential of the related color-selection electrode is more than substantially 72 percent and less than 85 percent of the screen potential thereby effecting a definitive voltage differential (.DELTA.V) therebetween that is substantially equal to or less than the voltage penetration threshold of the metallic film. The improvement in the system provides enhanced contrast and color purity in the screen display and minimizes background luminescence of the screen resultant from spurious impingement of secondary electrons generated in the tube.

  • Patent number: 4061943
Abstract: An electrical connective improvement is provided for a multiple-element electron gun assembly in an electron tube. The improvement relates to an isolated electrical conductor extending within the envelope from one of the elements of the electron gun assembly to the closure portion of the tube, whereat the conductor is shaped to project into and be encompassed by the exhaust tubulation wherein a portion of the conductor is sealed. Removal of the exterior portion of the tubulation beyond the seal provides an electrical connection extending exteriorly thereof.

  • Patent number: 4050763
Abstract: Electrical connective means are provided for effecting the external connections to a multi-element electron tube having a closure portion wherein the sealed exhaust tubulation has a conductive lead extending therefrom. The connective means includes a base member having a projecting hollow-stack portion which is formed to protectively encompass the sealed tubulation. Additionally, the hollow-stack has a metallic contact recessed therein, ahead of the seal, to which the protruding seal-related lead is affixed. A central recess is formed in a mating socket member to match the projecting stack of the base member. The stack is telescopically positioned within the recess to enable a receptor contact located therein to make seated abutment with the metallic contact in the base.

  • Patent number: 3979633
Abstract: An improvement for inhibiting arcing within a cathode ray tube comprises a combination including a low resistive electrical coating disposed interiorly on the forward portion of the funnel, joined with a high resistive coating disposed interiorly on the rearward portion thereof. Associated therewith are getter means having discretely shaped diffusion direction means to prevent the formation of a conductive path across the high resistive coating. The improved arc suppression combination beneficially improves the dielectric breakdown protection for both the tube and the associated circuitry.
