  • Patent number: 4324034
Abstract: Protruding head portions of coupling elements are removed from a selected section of a slide stringer, and a reinforcing tape is applied to the selected section by means including a movable holder for clamping the stringer on opposite sides of the selected section. The holder is restricted to movement along track means for guiding and aligning the holder with two or more stations, such as a gapping station, a reinforcing tape applying station and a trimming station.

  • Patent number: 4241489
Abstract: Gapping of slide fastener tapes is performed by cutting longitudinal connecting and supporting members carrying fastening elements on both sides of each element to be removed along perpendicular cutting lines. The fastening elements are then removed by pulling the fastening elements and the severed ends of the connecting and supporting members from between loops of weft threads which secure the connecting and supporting members in the inner edges of the tapes.

  • Patent number: 4138771
Abstract: A slide fastener is disclosed as being secured to garment edges which are to be detachably connected. The slide fastener includes a reinforced separating end stop attached to a pair of stringer tapes having interengaging elements operable by means of a slider. Reinforcing of the separating end stop is effected by tapered reinforcing means in grooves of a pre-corrugated section of a sized stringer tape disposed adjacent the end stop.

  • Patent number: 4033014
Abstract: Interconnecting threads for continuous molded coupling elements are used as load bearing members securing the coupling elements to a support tape. The strength of the union of the connecting threads with the molded coupling elements is increased such as by displacing central portions of embedded segments of the connecting threads deeper into leg portions of the coupling elements or providing a plurality of spaced connecting threads for each leg portion of a pair of leg portions of each element.
