  • Patent number: 5096363
Abstract: A lift truck fork positioner for respective inner and outer pairs of load-handling forks includes power actuators for selectively extending and retracting the outer pair of forks and latch assemblies for selectively detachably connecting an inner fork fixedly to a respective adjacent outer fork in spaced relation thereto automatically in response to the extension of the outer forks beyond a predetermined inner range of extension. Each latch assembly, when connecting the inner fork to the outer fork, fixedly prevents any narrowing of the spacing between the interconnected inner and outer forks, as well as fixedly preventing any widening of such spacing.

  • Patent number: 4279564
Abstract: A parallel arm clamp assembly having longitudinally-movable elongate slide members mountable transversely on the front of a lift truck and attaching members for connecting relatively narrow opposing clamp arms to the ends of the slide members so as to extend perpendicular thereto. Each slide member has an elongate rear portion longitudinally mounted within a slide guide and a longitudinally-extending elongate front portion external of the respective guide protruding forwardly therefrom, the elongate front portions of the respective slide members intersecting a common plane extending vertically and longitudinally with respect to the slide members. The clamp arm attaching members each have a pair of legs formed monolithically and homogeneously into a single member with the legs oriented at substantially a 90.degree. angle with respect to each other.

  • Patent number: 4227850
Abstract: A paper roll-handling clamp for lift trucks of the pivoted arm type. The pivoting movement of the clamp arms with respect to one another to perform the clamping function is accomplished by use of a generally forwardly extending, selectively extensible and retractible multi-stage telescoping hydraulic piston and cylinder assembly, which gives the clamp arms an exceptionally wide range of motion.

  • Patent number: 4177000
Abstract: A selectively rotatable load clamp for lift trucks, having a pair of openable and closable clamp arms. The clamp arms are capable of shifting the position of a load relative to the lift truck by movement of the clamp arms in unison, by which the load may be moved relative to the lift truck between a position of equal extension, wherein the forward ends of the clamp arms extend a substantially equal distance forwardly of the lift truck, and a position of unequal extension wherein the forward end of one clamp arm extends a greater distance forwardly than the forward end of the other clamp arm. The fluid motor apparatus for accomplishing such shifting function is selectively actuatable only in certain predetermined rotation positions of the clamp, that is, those positions where the two clamp arms are disposed at substantially a 45.degree. angle relative to horizontal.

  • Patent number: 4165008
Abstract: A side shifter mountable on a conventional hook-type lift truck carriage. The shifter includes an upper hook which, through removable wear shoes, accommodates a sliding engagement between the shifter and the upper bar in such a carriage, and a rotary spherical-segment bearing disposed below the hook which accommodates a rolling point contact with the lower bar in such a carriage.

  • Patent number: 4160620
Abstract: A lift truck-mounted load clamp for handling paper rolls having selectively openable and closeable opposing clamp arms with elongate, arcuate, concave contact pads hingedly connected to the forward ends of the respective clamp arms. Each contact pad is provided with exceptionally compact, durable restraints which limit the hinged movement of the respective pad, such restraints each comprising a cable having a swaged-on eye at one end pivotally connected to the contact pad and a swaged-on ferrule at the other end which is slidably contained within a yoke mounted on the clamp arm. A pair of such restraints are provided for each respective contact pad, the restraints being located exterior of each longitudinal edge of the clamp arm rather than interior thereof.

  • Patent number: 4127205
Abstract: A paper roll-handling clamp for lift trucks of the pivoted arm type capable of clamping a paper roll and shifting the position of the roll relative to the lift truck between a position of equal extension, wherein the forward ends of the clamp arms extend a substantially equal distance forwardly of the lift truck, and a position of unequal extension wherein the forward end of one clamp arm extends a greater distance forwardly than the forward end of the other clamp arm. The shifting movement of the clamp arms in unison occurs about a first transverse pivot axis, while the pivoting of the clamp arms with respect to one another to perform the clamping function occurs about a second transverse pivot axis located a spaced distance away from the first pivot axis and movable with respect thereto.

  • Patent number: 4008648
Abstract: A single-acting, three-stage, four-section telescopic ram for use in conjunction with a triple-lift type mast in a lift truck. The ram features an extremely low overall length when fully contracted, thus affording good operator visibility. The ram also is capable of producing surprisingly "high-lift" despite its low contracted profile. Further, the ram features an internal construction that produces constant lifting and lowering speeds for a load, as well as providing for positive control over the sequence of movements of parts in and on an associated mast.
