  • Patent number: 4685316
Abstract: A window guard latch with emergency release comprising a bracket having a channel for receiving a portion of the window guard, a lock for engaging the portion of the window guard received in the channel, the lock having a trigger for releasing the engagement with the window guard, and a solenoid linked to the trigger to operate it. A control box, mounted inside the building has an RF signal detector and means to activate the solenoid in response to the detector to release the window guard. Smoke detectors which trigger an RF transmitter and portable push button RF transmitters can transmit an RF signal to remotely activate the release mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4258504
Abstract: A cable release and latch for a security guard hinged to a window or the like has a spring loaded plunger swedged into an outer frame thereof. An armored cable with a flexible inner cable is connected to the spring loaded plunger and extends to a foot treadle operator and shield which may be mounted on the floor inside the opening. Sufficient length of cable is provided to allow free movement of the guard about its hinges. The security guard may thereby be quickly and easily opened without a key by stepping on the foot treadle operator. If the armored cable is severed, the spring loaded plunger advances further into the keeper which retracts the flexible cable within the armored housing to prevent the manual operation of the latch without further dismantling of the cable.

  • Patent number: 4245444
Abstract: A grout-like material of a type which is initially liquid is poured or floated into the chamber beneath the cylindrical elements of conventional carding machines, or other textile machines which generate quantities of waste thereunder, to a desired level greater in depth than the largest crack between the carding machine frame and the surface on which it rests, so that the grout fills and covers all the cracks around the bottom of the frame. Upon drying the grout material adheres to the surface on which the card frame rests and the side walls of the frame and essentially seals the area beneath the machine as well as forming a slick surface over which lint and dust may be more easily moved by pneumatic undercard cleaning systems. Such a floor construction eliminates burrs or other areas where tags and lint might accumulate. If desired, the grout may be covered with a slick finish or outer coating, such as a urethane or acrylic type floor coating to provide an even smoother finish.

  • Patent number: 4224718
Abstract: An air current is caused to sweep through the chamber beneath a carding machine from one end to the other by means of a suction plenum beneath the lickerin end of the machine and an air inlet beneath the doffer end of the machine through which air enters and is conveyed toward the suction plenum. One or more baffles extending across the width of the area beneath the carding elements extend down in close proximity to the floor causing the air to pass closely adjacent the floor, rather than to drift up into the upper areas of the chamber. One of the aforementioned baffles is adjustably positioned in air deflecting arrangement with the aforementioned inlet to divert the incoming air currents immediately to the floor. The suction plenum is so connected with a source of negative pressure as to cause an air flow rate of at least 360 cfm through the inlet to the suction plenum.

  • Patent number: 4026070
Abstract: An adjustable security barrier comprising three sections whose relationship to each other can be adjusted to expand or contract the area covered by the security barrier. The barrier uses hidden wedge nuts, with bolts to secure the sections together. The bolts and nuts are inaccessible when the barrier is in the locked position. A sliding rod is adapted to be inserted into a hole in the passageway so that the barrier can be locked into place by the use of a padlock. Hinged mounting plates allow free swinging motion of the barrier. The hinges and mounts are inaccessible when the barrier is in the locked position.
