  • Patent number: 9555753
Abstract: The vehicle mobile microgrid is a vehicle on-board electrical grid dedicated to supplying all supplemental electrical needs for the vehicle utilizing recovered energy from internal combustion engine heat, vehicle motion and auxiliary electrical power generator, chemical and mechanical storage systems and electrical power from incident light energy. Unlike electrical grids that serve wide population areas, the vehicle on-board electrical grid is not meant to serve electrical demand beyond that utilized by the vehicle. This on-board electrical grid is therefore very small by comparison, and the term microgrid is meant to convey this comparative size. The microgrid utilizes a common-mode bidirectional microgrid to efficiently capture, store and distribute electrical power depending on the vehicle's demand for electrical power.

  • Publication number: 20140306565
Abstract: An electric motor design is described including coaxial, concentric multiple cylindrical stators and rotors with air gap registration maintained and rotor rotation and fixed stator position facilitated by use of one or more precision bearings mounted on a common shaft. The multiphase stator winding routing is facilitated by the use of multilayer printed circuit boards to allow multiphase excitation of the stator winding to provide induction motor drive to the rotor. The rotor is a double squirrel cage design that allows supplemental resistors and inductors to augment the construction materials inherent physical resistance and inductance of the squirrel cage. The design is further enhanced for high torque startup by construction superposition of a reluctance motor feature incorporated into the squirrel cage rotor construction.

  • Patent number: 8353375
Abstract: A direct drive traction vehicle motor system for a wheeled vehicle includes an electric motor rotor for mechanically attachment to a vehicle wheel for rotational movement with the vehicle wheel. An attachment structure is concentrically mounting the rotor to the vehicle wheel. An electric motor stator is mounted in a concentric relationship with the rotor. A mechanical structure is coupled between the vehicle and the stator for inhibiting rotation of the stator. An electric drive circuit is electrically coupled to the motor stator for exciting the motor stator to impart a rotational force on the vehicle wheel through the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4120744
Abstract: A plurality of silicon elements are arranged in a printing array with the major faces co-planar and the edges interconnected into a monolithic structure by a grid of polycrystalline silicon and silicon dioxide. The silicon dioxide provides an electrical and thermal barrier, and the polycrystalline silicon provides a strong mechanical interconection. In the preferred embodiment, the silicon elements are monocrystalline and contain one or more electrical components for selectively heating the elements. The method for fabricating the device includes the steps of etching V-shaped grooves in one surface of a silicon slice and then successively growing silicon dioxide and polycrystalline silicon on the etched surface to form a thick slice. The other side of the slice is then lapped away to at least the depth of the silicon dioxide in the grooves and semiconductor elements and conductors formed in and/or on the lapped side.
