  • Patent number: 5110423
Abstract: This invention relates to alkyl and alkanol sulfonic acid plating baths and to methods for plating tin and tin-lead alloys. It also relates to low foaming wetting systems based on low to moderate foaming surfactants and soluble, non-silicon containing defoamers, and to low volatility brightener systems.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 25, 1990
Date of Patent: May 5, 1992
    Assignee: Technic Inc.
Inventors: John L. Little, Philip W. Schultz, Harry Kroll
  • Patent number: 4981564
Abstract: Heteroaromatic compounds having at least two nitrogen atoms may be used to regulate consistency of alloy content and of deposit thickness. Modified nonionic surfactants which lack terminal hydroxy groups are used as grain refiners having low tendency to cause foam build-up in electroplating baths. Dioxolanes may be used to produce deposits having, as desired, a white uniform matte, a semi-bright plate, or a mirror bright surface. Antioxidants are used to prevent oxidation of divalent tin.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 7, 1990
Date of Patent: January 1, 1991
    Assignee: Technic Inc.
Inventors: Harry Kroll, Florence Butler, Therese R. Souza

  • Patent number: 4673472
Abstract: Electroplating solutions for the deposition of palladium or the alloys thereof, in which solutions palladium was added in the form of the reaction product of palladium diaminodinitrite with an acid in the presence of a scavenging agent for nitrous acid.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 28, 1986
Date of Patent: June 16, 1987
    Assignee: Technic Inc.
Inventors: Ronald J. Morrissey, Harry Kroll
  • Patent number: 4073700
Abstract: This invention discloses a process for producing by electrodeposition bright deposits of gold and its alloys at greatly increased speeds and with an evenness of distribution significantly greater than conventional baths resulting in considerable savings in the average amount of gold deposited to meet a minimum thickness specification. The deposition of gold is promoted and enhanced by the presence of chelating agents characterized as carboxymethylated aminomethylene phosphonic acids and its salts.

    Filed: July 2, 1976
Date of Patent: February 14, 1978
Inventors: Alfred M. Weisberg, Harry Kroll
  • Patent number: 4032379
Abstract: A one-step powderless high-speed process for producing photoengraved letter-press printing and pattern plates from magnesium and alloys thereof by etching such plates in a machine that directs against a surface of the plate droplets of an etching liquid comprising an aqueous solution of a strong inorganic acid and adjuvants.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 31, 1975
Date of Patent: June 28, 1977
Assignee: Philip A. Hunt Chemical Corporation
Inventors: David L. Czirr, Harry Kroll
