  • Patent number: 5683577
Abstract: A filter device useful in continuous separation of solid matter from a liquid, such as liquid wastewater, where the filter includes a tubular filter element with a series of slots of selected width extending through the tubular element. The filter element has a longitudinally extending central opening with a fluid inlet therein and is received in a first tubular casing with an annular area defined between the tubular filter element and the first casing so the central opening is open to receive liquid to be filtered, liquid being filtered as the liquid flows outwardly through the slots from the central opening to the annular area. A seal is provided between the tubular element and the inside of the first casing at a location below the slots in the tubular element to prevent unfiltered wastewater from entering the annular area.

  • Patent number: 5593584
Abstract: A filter unit for a septic tank including a cylindrical filter housing having two chambers therein, a first chamber having a plurality of stacked disc-dam filter units and a second chamber. Each disc-dam filtering unit is provided with an upstream side and a downstream side and the cylindrical housing has an opening in the bottom thereof in flow communication with the upstream side of the disc-dam filtering units. A vertically extending partition is provided to separate the first chamber from the second chamber and the partition includes flow-through openings therethrough of preselected size for controlling the rate of flow from the downstream side of the disc-dam units into the second chamber.

  • Patent number: 5591331
Abstract: A filter device for separating solid material from a liquid includes a filter housing with vertically extending removable sidewalls wherein at the location of the removable sidewalls E-shaped connections are provided to receive two vertically extending sidewalls in spaced parallel relationship whereby a fluid impermeable sidewall may be inserted into the circumferential section of the housing when the liquid permeable section is removed for cleaning without interfering with the continual operation of the filter device. A pump or other apparatus are provided within the housing for removing filtered waste water therefrom.

  • Patent number: 5582716
Abstract: A filter unit for use in a septic tank system includes a housing having an upper section and a lower section wherein the upper section has a cross-sectional area greater than the lower section. The lower section receives a plurality of disc-dam units to form a filter unit therein wherein each disc-dam unit is provided with an outer periphery partitioned by an upwardly directed dam to define a fluid inlet on one side of the dam and a fluid outlet on the opposite side of the dam. The distance between an upper surface of the dam and a lower surface of a disc-dam unit forming slots of preselected height to provide defined slots for the flow of waste water thereacross from the inlet side to the outlet side of the disc-dam units. The lower section is also provided with a vertical chamber therein in flow communication with the fluid outlet of the disc-dam units and the upper section of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5580453
Abstract: A waste water filtering apparatus includes a vertically extending filter housing having a plurality of filter tubes disposed therein. At least one of the filter tubes has an opening in the bottom end thereof and is closed at the top wherein waste water to be filtered flows in through the interior of the filter tube and out through openings in the walls of the filter tube into the interior of the filter housing. A second filter tube is provided with a closed bottom end and an open outlet end in flow communication with a discharge outlet from the filter housing. The second filter tube is in spaced parallel relation with the first filter tube whereby water flowing in the interior of the housing flows into the second filter tube and flows upwardly and out of openings in the top end of the filter tube which is in flow communication with the outlet discharge of the filter.

  • Patent number: 5482621
Abstract: Filter device useful in continuous separation of solid matter from a fluid, such as liquid wastewater where the filter includes a tubular filter element with a series of slots of selected width extending through the tubular element. The element has a central opening and can be received in a casing to form an annular area between the tubular filter element and the casing so the central opening is open to receive the fluid to be filtered as the fluid flows through the slots from the central opening to the annular area. The casing can also include an outlet from the annular area so the fluid can be emitted from the assembly. A seal can be provided between the tubular element and the inside of the casing at a location below the slots in the tubular element and above the outlet from the casing.
