  • Publication number: 20220246043
Abstract: Systems and methods for managing drones using standby zones are described. An aircraft (e.g., drone or UAV) standby zone management system manages drones in three-dimensional zones, each zone having a specific elevation (or height), longitude, and latitude. For example, a number of drones can service or otherwise travel through a specific airspace or geographical location (e.g., an area surrounding a warehouse). Before executing flight plans, the drones remain in a standby mode, where they await instructions. The system manages these standby zones, moving the drones from zone to zone as they remain in their standby mode of operation.

  • Publication number: 20220245380
Abstract: A drone identification system including a drone having an LED “license plate” and an identification device is disclosed. The drone's LEDs emit a color pattern signal that is captured by the identification device, which is then used to uniquely identify the drone. Specifically, the identification device translates the color pattern signal into a unique identification code that is used to identify the drone. The identification code may be transmitted to a server to store the identification information in a directory for future use.

  • Patent number: 9770648
Abstract: An apparatus for the creation of an electrical circuit on a game board as a puzzle to be solved, is provided. The game board includes an electrical control circuit that induces an electromagnetic field above a planar surface of the game board. A plurality of electrically conductive distinctly curved game pieces are placed in various ways on top of the planar surface, the goal being to place all of the pieces on the planar surface in a loop in order to create the electrical circuit. When the final game piece is placed, an induced current flow is experienced by the electrical circuit and detected by the electrical control circuit. In response to detecting completion of the electrical circuit, the electrical control circuit activates an audible indication and a visual indication simultaneously for a period of time to provide a pleasurable reward to the user in the form of sensory feedback.

  • Patent number: 8956126
Abstract: A sump water evacuation system that operates automatically without reliance on electricity or floats and without any need for oversight or manual intervention, using domestic water supply as the sole motive force to evacuate sump water either into a washbasin or to the exterior of the building; the system is easily installed for use with Radon remediated sump pits. A pneumatic stagnation pressure automatically signals a rising water level in a sump pit and this signal is communicated to a housing wherein the low-pressure signal is mechanically amplified to activate a tilt valve mechanism, thereby converting the pneumatic signal to a hydraulic force which in turn opens a check valve, allowing a high-pressure domestic water supply to flow through to a commercially available Venturi siphon device, causing the sump water to be suctioned out and expelled into either a washbasin or to the exterior of a building.

  • Patent number: 7344353
Abstract: A vertical axis wind turbine wherein the blades of the rotor section of the wind turbine comprise at least sections wherein the blades have a non-linear configuration in the “z” axis. In a preferred embodiment, the blades of the rotor section have a linear trailing edge with a non-linear, and preferably helical, surface configuration. This particular design allows the blades to provide both a rotational force and a positive or negative lift component. Further, the blades define an open area in the center of the rotor section through which air flow can pass in order to create a vertical vortex of air. As such, a more efficient vertical axis wind turbine provided.

  • Publication number: 20070242302
Abstract: Provided are a method, system, and article of manufacture for using a resource context to access resources and source data for a transform. A transform receives a request to transform source data and calls a resource context. The resource context initializes a resource object for the transform and acquires associations to source data and resources needed by the transform. The resource context maintains the acquired associations to source data and resources in the resource object for the transform and supplies the associations to the source data and resources to the transform. The transform transforms the source data using the resources to produce output and provides the output to the resource context.

  • Patent number: 5649666
Abstract: A gasoline motor powered spreading apparatus for use with vehicles equipped with articulating dump boxes is described. The spreading apparatus includes a hopper assembly, a spinner, a mounting platform for a gasoline powered motor, a mounting platform levelling system, and a multiple output gearbox. The entire assembly is configured to substitute directly for most conventional vehicle tailgates. The levelling system ensures that the motor (platform) is level through the full range of articulation of the dump box in order to provide efficient operation of a gasoline powered motor. The multiple output gearbox provides variable gear ratios to power peripherals such as the spinner and the auger. The gasoline powered motor as well as the peripherals may be manipulated remotely from the driver's area of the vehicle. The apparatus is easily installed or removed and requires limited modification to the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5621940
Abstract: A vehicle-mountable push broom has a generally horizontal frame provided with a plurality of transverse downwardly-opening generally C-shaped channels, and a plurality of removable bristle strips positionable one in each channel. Each strip has a holder specifically configured to be accommodated within the channel, and a plurality of bristles mounted in and extending downwardly from the holder. The strips are loosely held within the channels, such that the holders are permitted to rock within the channels, for example through an angle generally in the range of 10 to 20 degrees.

  • Patent number: 5375773
Abstract: A salt spreader mounting assembly that attaches to the rear of a utility vehicle such as a conventional pick-up truck is described. The salt spreader mounting assembly includes a frame which attaches to the vehicle, and pivoting connections between the frame and the vehicle such that the frame can swing horizontally thereby permitting access to the rear of the vehicle, without interference with the tailgate. The frame supports a compatible salt spreader/hopper unit. The assembly allows a combination spreader/hopper to be swung away from the vehicle from at least one of its sides, thereby allowing direct access to the rear cargo area via the tailgate. The assembly is easily installed or removed and requires limited modification to the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4807661
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling the flow of fluid through a conduit is disclosed. The conduit permits normal flow of fluid through the conduit and detects abnormal flow of fluid which is due to a catastrophic failure of the fluid system or is due to intermittent flow of fluid caused by a leak in the fluid system. The apparatus is particularly useful in determining the abnormal flow of fluid through conduits where the normal flow of flow is erratic. The apparatus can be modified to change the parameters defining abnormal flow in the system.
