Patent number: 7065929Abstract: A two part window and door assembly includes a sill, head and jambs for the window or door frame and stiles and rails for a window sash. Each of the sill, head, jambs, stiles and rails is formed in two parts, that is, an interior part and an exterior part. A coupling is used to join together the interior part and the exterior part of each of the sill, head, jambs, stiles and rails. The coupling includes an outrigger formed as an elongated member on one of the interior part and the exterior part. The other of the interior part and the exterior part defines an outrigger receiving slot. The coupling includes a first hook and a second hook. The first and second hooks are disposed on one and the other of the interior part and the exterior part. The outrigger is received by the outrigger receiving slot, and the first and second hooks engage each other to join the interior part and the exterior part together.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2003Date of Patent: June 27, 2006Inventors: Francis Manzella, Harry M. Patent number: 6341465Abstract: A corner element includes first and second sections that fit into legs of a framing channel, a first pair of parallel vertical panels on the first section interleave with a second pair of vertical parallel panels on the second section when the sections are rotated on an integral connecting hinge. A side of one of the panels of one section is recessed to receive one of the panels of the other section. One of the panels of one section is designed to receive a fastener that is guided by a through hole in a panel of the other section parallel to the height of panel of the other section.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2000Date of Patent: January 29, 2002Inventor: Harry M. Publication number: 20010032436Abstract: A spacer channel for a frame which separates window panes to form an insulated window has a plurality of openings through a wall of the channel that faces outward along the periphery of the frame and glass sandwich. The openings are designed to prevent significant passage of sealant from the outside of the channel to the inside of the channel through the openings. This is done by the cross sectional area of each opening being so small that it resists viscous flow of the sealant through the opening, or by a cover over the opening.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 22, 2001Publication date: October 25, 2001Inventor: Harry M. Patent number: 5634306Abstract: A unitary composite frame member of two or more structural elements. A first and a second of the elements each contributes strength to the member. The second element, a plastic, encloses the first element on essentially all surfaces along the length of the first element, and is molded to itself through recesses of openings in an edge of the first element. The first element is discontinuous in that it is two walls attached lengthwise, and a third wall parallel to them and separate from them. In one embodiment, the third wall and one of the two walls intersect laterally.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 1996Date of Patent: June 3, 1997Inventor: Harry M. Riegelman

Patent number: 5491951Abstract: A unitary composite frame member of two or more structural elements. A first and a second of the elements each contributes strength to the member. The second element which is preferably a plastic, has a conductivity not exceeding 5% of that of the first element, and covers the first element, contributing to the shape of the frame member. Preferably each of the two elements is strong enough to retain its shape without aid from the other element, and the second element contributes at least 10% of the structural strength of the member. The elements are molded together, with the covering element in a plurality of similarly shaped openings in the element that it covers.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 1994Date of Patent: February 20, 1996Inventor: Harry M. Riegelman

Patent number: 5165737Abstract: A housing with a top wall, upstanding parallel walls and two upstanding posts between the upstanding walls on a line parallel with the walls. Each post extends through an elongated opening in a first bolt which is mounted slidingly in the housing for reciprocation toward first and second ends of the housing. The bolt is extendible beyond the second end of the housing for engaging a window jamb when the housing is mounted on a sash of a tilt window that is fully seated in the jamb. The bolt is urged toward the second end by a spring in one of the elongated openings, bearing on the bolt and the post in the opening. A second bolt is supported slidingly between the first bolt and one of the walls, and is extendible beyond the second end for engaging the jamb. A portion of the first bolt extends through an upstanding wall, and a portion of the second bolt extends through the top wall.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 1992Date of Patent: November 24, 1992Assignee: Pomeroy, Inc.Inventor: Harry M. Patent number: 4949521Abstract: A frame and muntin assembly for use in a window or with another thin panel for a building structure. In a window the frame has interconnected frame members extending along the periphery of the window pane and each having an elongated outwardly protruding segment located outside the periphery of the window pane and offset in front of it, an elongated blind groove between the outwardly protruding segment and the periphery of the window pane, and an elongated inwardly protruding segment offset behind the outwardly protruding segment and engaging the front of the window pane. Muntins extend across the front between different locations along the grooves and are attached to the frame members by fastener elements received in the grooves. The muntins are flush with the outwardly protruding segments of the frame members.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 1989Date of Patent: August 21, 1990Inventors: Harry M. Riegelman, Steven P. Davis

Patent number: 4262449Abstract: There is disclosed a single hung aluminum window in which the sash is provided with plastic inserts in its stiles at their upper and lower ends, such inserts having portions which serve as guide and spacer members which bear against the jambs of the frame in which the stiles are positioned. The inserts also form housings which include respective pushbuttons and bias springs, the buttons extending through aligned openings in such housings and the inner stile faces. In the head portion of the frame are elongated stop members adapted to be swiveled between vertical and horizontal positions, and which in vertical positions prevent upward movement of the sash beyond the point wherein it is not engaged by the feet of the balance mechanisms mounted in the jambs.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 1979Date of Patent: April 21, 1981Assignee: Rusco Industries, Inc.Inventors: Harry M. Riegelman, Vernon E. Madison
-
Patent number: 4245436Abstract: There is disclosed a metal window frame in which balance mechanisms are positioned in the upper portions of the jambs adjacent the sides of a fixed pane or panes, the front faces of the housings for such mechanisms being in a plane parallel to the outer face of a sash that is slidable from a closed position in the lower portion of the frame to a fully open position in the upper portion thereof. The mechanisms and sash are coupled via identical foot structures which are attached to the lower ends of the balances, and which have hook portions extending through the plane of the outer face portion of the sash so as to maintain engagement with the lower end of the sash throughout its normal movement. Catches in the jambs limit the upper position of the foot structures when the sash is raised to an uppermost position for removal from the frame.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 1979Date of Patent: January 20, 1981Assignee: Rusco Industries, Inc.Inventors: Harry M. Riegelman, Vernon E. Madison

Patent number: 4237560Abstract: There is disclosed a bidet seat housing in which are front and rear water jet nozzles and director members through which to pass water one or the other of the nozzles via a solenoid-operated diverter valve connected to the outlet fitting on top of an elongated horizontal water tank adjacent one end thereof, such tank having its inlet fitting on top adjacent the other end connected to a water supply line via a solenoid-operated pressure regulator. An external mode selector effects operation of one of either one of the solenoids or of a warm air blower for supplying warm air blower at the rear of the seat. The water tank contains a heater and a sensor with a temperature sensitive resistor. A control module has circuitry of which the sensor resistor is a part, and effects operation of the heater as needed to maintain water flowing through the tank at the desired temperature.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 1978Date of Patent: December 9, 1980Assignee: Rusco Industries, Inc.Inventors: Harry M.
