Patent number: 6283306Abstract: A rotating filter having at least two annular filter disks each having a plurality of filter elements and being carried by a shaft for rotation about an axis perpendicular to the planes defined by the disks. A discharge chute extends into the space between the filter disks for discharging solids removed from the facing filter elements. An axial spacing between the first portion of the upper edges of the chute located radially inside radially inner edge portions of the facing filter elements of the adjacent filter disks is not less than an axial spacing between the inner edge portions, and an axial spacing between a second chute portion of the upper edges located radially outside the radially inner edge portions is not more than the axial spacing between the inner edge portions of the facing filter elements.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 2000Date of Patent: September 4, 2001Inventor: Harry Nilsson

Patent number: 6010014Abstract: A filter sector for a filter disk of a rotating filter. The filter sector includes two interconnected plate shaped elements formed from a sheet material having a relatively thin thickness and each having planar portions defining a main plane. Protrusions shaped in the material of the plate shaped elements extend outwardly from the respective main plane and are adapted to keep a filter cloth at a distance from the respective main plane. Continuous, mutually spaced, parallel ridges are shaped in the material of the plate shaped elements and extend in a first direction over the filter sector. The protrusions extend in a second direction substantially perpendicular to the first direction and each protrusion is spanning over at least two adjacent ridges. Laterally adjacent protrusions are lengthwise displaced in relation to each other by at least the spacing between adjacent ridges.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 1998Date of Patent: January 4, 2000Inventor: Harry Nilsson

Patent number: 5326038Abstract: A beating apparatus for fibre suspensions, including a housing having at least one inlet for suspension and one outlet for beaten suspension, a rotor rotatably arranged in the housing and having a beating surface, in which open perforations extend through the rotor, and at least one stator arranged in the housing and having a stator shoe located close to the beating surface of the rotor is provided. In order to prevent unbeaten suspension from reaching the outlet, shields and guides are provided between the inlet and the outlet. The shield and guides lead all flow between the inlet and the outlet through the stator shield.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1992Date of Patent: July 5, 1994Inventor: Harry Nilsson

Patent number: 5304304Abstract: In a rotating filter a filter cloth (18) is arranged outside a filter skeleton (34, 36). The filter cloth is provided with at least one bending resistant element (37, 38) extending through a pocket (49) arranged in or on the filter cloth (18) to restrain bulging of the filter cloth due to forces perpendicular to the plane of the filter cloth. The filter sector skeleton (34, 35, 36, 45) is provided with radially outer support and guide means (43, 44) and radially inner support and guide means (45, 46). The bending resistant element (37, 38) is at its ends adapted for detachable engagement with said means such that the ends are undisplaceable perpendicularly to the support and guide means (43, 44, 45, 46). Preferably, at least one end of the bending resistant element is displaceable in the circumferential direction of the filter sector.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 1992Date of Patent: April 19, 1994Inventors: Folke Jakobson, Harry Nilsson

Patent number: 5273651Abstract: A disc filter including at least one filter disc (3) partly submerged in a vessel (1) for liquid or suspension to be filtered, said filter disc including a plurality of substantially annularly disposed filter sectors (4) and being rotatable about a collecting through (6) for solid substance deposited on the outside of the filter sectors (4) and falling down therefrom. Each filter sector has a filtrate outlet (16) by means of which the interior of the filter sector communicates with an axial channel (8) for discharge of filtrate. The filtrate outlet (16) is arranged at the edge (22) of the filter sector (4) trailing upon rotation of the filter disc and being connected to the side (12) of the axial channel (8) leading in the direction of rotation. Hereby the filter sectors (4) may be arranged to extend radially outside as well as radially inside the axial channels (8).Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 1992Date of Patent: December 28, 1993Inventor: Harry Nilsson

Patent number: 5032270Abstract: A filter for thickening fiber suspensions or other liquids containing solid material includes a plurality of rotatable filter disks (3) mutually spaced in axial direction and adapted to be partially submerged in a liquid (5) to be filtered. Each filter disk includes a plurality of filter sectors (4) communicating with axial filtrate discharge ducts (2) at the outer peripheries of the filter disks (3) for removal of filtrate. The axial filtrate discharge ducts (2) are open to atmosphere at at least one end (2') thereof for the purpose of conducting air through these ducts into the interior of the filter sections to replace filtrate flowing out. Advantageously, there is communication between all axial filtrate discharge ducts through annular filter disk holders (1) carrying the filter sectors (4) of the filter disks.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1989Date of Patent: July 16, 1991Inventors: Harry Nilsson, Bjarne Nilsson

Patent number: 4889625Abstract: A filter to concentrating fiber suspension of the type having annular filter discs (2) which rotate about a collection trough (13) for dewatered fibers. Each filter disc comprises two mutually spaced filter elements (3) which, together with an annular wall (4) radially inwardly terminating the disc, define a filtrate chamber (5) inside the disc. The filtrate chamber (5) communicates radially outwardly with its surroundings. The suspension container (1) of the filter is inwardly provided under the suspension surface with an arcuate duct (15) for each disc, this duct being in communication with the filtrate outlet (17) of the container. Thee is communication between each disc (2) and associated duct (15) such that the filtrate can be transferred from a filtrate chamber to the respective duct (15).Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 1988Date of Patent: December 26, 1989Inventor: Harry Nilsson

Patent number: 4529509Abstract: A screen machine, particularly for cellulose pulp and recycled pulp, which includes a screen rotor (15), which is rotatable in a housing (16) having an inlet (17) for pulp suspension, an outlet (18) for accepts and a discharge opening (19) for rejects. The screen rotor (15) is so arranged between the inlet (17) and the outlet (18) that flow therethrough from its inlet side has a radially inward directed component. On the outlet side of the rotor (15) is arranged at least one stationary baffle means (26), which separates a sector of the screen rotor from the outlet. Along at least a part of this sector there is communication between the inlet (17) and the space between the rotor (15) and the baffle means (26).Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1983Date of Patent: July 16, 1985Inventor: Harry Nilsson
