  • Patent number: 4480828
Abstract: A rhythm indicating exercising device in the form of a generally tubular member having a preferably metallic mass or slug disposed freely slidable in the interior of the tubular member, each end of the tubular member being provided with an elastic, resilient end closure preventing the mass or slug from escaping from the tubular member. In use, one tubular member is grasped in one hand or, preferably, a pair of tubular members are held one in each hand of a person while walking and more particularly while engaged in aggressive exercise walking, that is while walking at a fast pace with extensive swinging of the arms back and forth.

Abstract: A rhythm indicating exercising device in the form of a generally tubular member having a preferably metallic mass or slug disposed freely slidable in the interior of the tubular member, each end of the tubular member being provided with an end closure preventing the mass or slug from escaping from the tubular member. In use, one tubular member is grasped in one hand or, preferably, a pair of tubular members are held one in each hand of a person while walking and more particularly while engaged in aggressive exercise walking, that is while walking at a fast pace with extensive swinging of the arms back and forth. At the end of each forward and backward stroke of the arm, the mass or slug is forcibly propelled by inertia within the tubular member and caused to strike the corresponding end closure, thus producing an impact knocking sound helping the walker to maintain an effective rhythm and providing beneficial advantages in indicating proper exercising of the arms in addition to the legs.

  • Patent number: 4278248
Abstract: A rhythm indicating exercising device in the form of a generally tubular member having a preferably metallic mass or slug disposed freely slidable in the interior of the tubular member, each end of the tubular member being provided with an arresting member or end closure preventing the mass or slug from escaping from the tubular member. In use, one tubular member is grasped in one hand or, preferably, a pair of tubular members are held one in each hand of a person while walking and more particularly while engaged in aggressive exercise walking, that is while walking at a fast pace with extensive swinging of the arms back and forth.

  • Patent number: 4274673
Abstract: A disposable adjustable headrest which can be used either as a headrest, a pillow or a cushion. According to one aspect of the invention, at least a pair of pillow units are placed in a common pillowcase. The pillow units are preferably elongated, made of resilient material and disposed in the common pillowcase at a manually adjustable distance from each other. When disposed an appropriate distance away from each other in the common pillowcase there is formed a convenient headrest supporting both sides of the back of the head of a person sitting in a chair and having placed the pillowcase against the front of the seat back or, when the pillow units are disposed close to each other in the pillowcase they form a voluminous headrest pillow arrangement for supporting one side of a head or, alternatively, for forming a convenient cushion.

  • Patent number: 4253701
Abstract: A removable and disposable back and head sheet attachable by an edge to the top of a chair or seat back and draping over the front of the seat back for engagement with the back of the head of a person sitting in the chair or seat of a mass transportation vehicle. The head and back sheet of the invention is provided with an arrangement indicating clearly whether the sheet has been placed in use by or for a person having sat in the chair or seat such that another person intending to sit in the chair or seat is informed whether the back and head sheet is fresh or used, and the personnel in charge of cleaning the vehicle is enabled to change and replace only the sheets which have been used. The use or non-use of the back and head sheet is indicated by unfolding a fold, breaking a seal and unfolding a fold, or by any other indicator such as a detector of body heat, perspiration or the like.

  • Patent number: 4206945
Abstract: A removable and disposable back and head cloth or sheet attachable by an edge to the top of a chair or seat back and draping over the front of the seat back for engagement with the back of the head of a person sitting in the chair or seat. The head and back sheet of the invention may be used singly or in combination with an additional back and head sheet of a conventional design, and is arranged for use in combination with removable disposable headrests which are attached to the head and back sheet by means of adhesive or by being placed in a pocket provided in or formed by the head and back sheet of the invention.

  • Patent number: 4183524
Abstract: A practice net for tennis that can be attached to a garage door and stored in a plane co-planar with the plane of the garage door in a first condition of operation and be operable in a position substantially perpendicular to the garage door in a second condition of operation for rebounding tennis balls.

  • Patent number: 4157631
Abstract: An improved toy flying saucer having a relatively thin circular body formed with an upwardly concave shape and an integral concentric peripheral annular portion having a downwardly concave section. The annular peripheral portion may be provided with radial members to which decorative streamers may be attached or which, in the alternative, are arranged to produce noise, or are shaped as airfoils to increase the lift of the toy flying saucer when propelled through the air.

  • Patent number: 4143483
Abstract: An improvement relating to a toy flying saucer having a double skinned body defining lower and upper wall portions joined proximate the rim of the toy flying saucer body. The upper and lower walls, in one embodiment, are normally urged in close proximity and may be manually separated so as to form a variable volume air chamber therebetween. An orifice in one of the walls is provided with a noise-making element such as a whistle or a siren. Prior to launching the flying saucer, the upper and lower walls are manually separated so as to fill the chamber therebetween with air which is allowed to escape during flight through the orifice provided with a noise emitting element. Alternatively, the double skinned body is constructed such that the upper and lower walls are normally urged away from each other such as to form an air chamber therebetween which can be manually collapsed prior to launching of the toy flying saucer.

  • Patent number: 4117626
Abstract: A toy flying saucer having a double skinned body, substantially circular and dome-shaped, and defining lower and upper wall portions joined proximate the rim of the dome-shaped body. An embodiment of the invention contemplates that the upper and lower walls are normally urged in close proximity and may be manually separated so as to form a variable volume air chamber therebetween. An orifice is disposed at least in the lower wall, with a noise-emitting element, such as a whistle or a siren, inserted in the orifice. Prior to launching, the upper and lower walls are manually separated so as to fill the chamber therebetween with air, and air is allowed to escape during flight through the orifice provided with the noise-emitting element.Another embodiment of the invention consists in having the upper and lower walls normally separated such as to form an air chamber therebetween which can be manually collapsed prior to launching the toy flying saucer.

  • Patent number: 4070027
Abstract: A limb stiffening device made of a length of tough, pliable and flexible material, preferably plastic, of open lattice pattern, having a continuous edge with radiused corners. The edge and the webs defining the open lattice pattern are substantially curvilinear in cross section. Fasteners are attached at opposite ends of the length of material for holding the length of material wrapped in the form of a sleeve around a limb, with the ends overlapped. The material is preferably provided with a pre-set bow tending to curl the length of material for facilitating wrapping around a limb, especially when a single hand is used for placing or removing the stiffening device, for example about the elbow of a golfer for preventing the golfer from bending his arm at the elbow while hitting a ball with a golf club.
