  • Patent number: 8308140
Abstract: A coupling for an end of polymer jacketed high tensile wire fencing formed by a plate having first and second edges, a slot passing through the plate perpendicular to the first and second edges, having upper and lower ends spaced from the edges, a fold in the fencing defining a bight joining a shorter portion to a longer portion of the fencing, the fold penetrating the slot, and a pin of a length greater than the distance between the upper and lower ends of the slot, the pin having an end inserted into the bight in the fold of the fencing to retain the fold of the fencing in the slot, the pin being vertically removable from the bight to quickly release the fencing from the coupling.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 9, 2009
Date of Patent: November 13, 2012
Inventors: Josef A. Boukal, Bryan F. Magee, David M. Malone, Susan R. Kavanaugh, Harry Raney

  • Publication number: 20030218162
Abstract: A fence spool core member has a slot having an open end to permit straddling of a flexible member. A niche adjacent the core open end receives a flange web to trap the flexible fence member in the slot. Torque couplings on the flanges permit rotational displacement of the core in relation to the flexible member. The end flanges include a plurality of peripheral openings that receive pins to retain any rotational displacement of the core in relation to the flexible fence member trapped in the core slot to remove slack from the flexible fence member.

  • Patent number: 6648305
Abstract: A tensioner device for applying tension to a flexible fence slat includes a bracket assembly having attachment webs for attachment to a fence post and a pair of vertically spaced, horizontally oriented flanges. A tensioning cylinder is mounted for rotation within a pair of apertures provided, respectively, in the horizontally oriented flanges, the tensioning cylinder formed with a through-slot extending longitudinally between a pair of radial flanges. The through-slot has a length substantially equal to a width of the flexible fence slat and adapted to receive one end of the fence slat. A ratchet wheel is formed at one end of the cylinder, between one of the radial flanges and one of the horizontally oriented flanges, and a pawl is pivotably mounted on the adjacent one of the horizontally oriented flanges for engagement with the ratchet so as to permit rotation of the tensioning cylinder in a tensioning direction but to prevent rotation of the tensioning cylinder in an opposite direction.
