  • Patent number: 10816233
Abstract: An adaptor module and methods for controlling a replacement motor in a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system are provided. The adaptor module includes a plurality of tap connectors, each configured to receive a control signal. The adaptor module also includes a user interface having a plurality of switches that are adjustable into a plurality of different configurations, wherein each of the plurality of configurations correlates to at least one stored operating parameter for application to the motor. The adaptor module also includes a processing device configured to determine an operating parameter at which to operate the motor based on the configuration of the plurality of switches and based on a determination of which tap connector is receiving the control signal. The adaptor module also transmits a command signal including instructions for the motor to operate in accordance with the determined operating parameter.

  • Patent number: 10635070
Abstract: A programming module, systems, and methods for programming a motor controller coupled to a motor are provided. The programming module includes a connector for coupling to a system control wire harness of a system control board and a wire harness for coupling to a motor connector of the motor controller such that the programming module is serially coupled between the system control board and the motor controller. The module also includes a tap detection circuit coupled to the connector for detecting which tap of a plurality of motor taps is called by the system control board. A wireless communication device is configured to transmit an identification of the called tap wirelessly to a programming computing device, receive an adjusted operating parameter for the motor that is associated with the called tap from the programming computing device, and transmit, via the wire harness, the adjusted operating parameter to the motor controller.

The stator includes a start winding, a capacitor electrically coupled in series with the start winding, a first plurality of windings, and a second plurality of windings. At least one winding of the first plurality of windings is energized in parallel with at least one winding of the second plurality of windings at a first voltage and in series with the at least one winding of the second plurality of windings at a second voltage. The first and second pluralities of windings are energized to produce a plurality of motor speeds. The rotor rotates relative to the stator about the axis of rotation at a selected one of the plurality of motor speeds induced at least partially by a magnetic output of the windings of the stator.
