  • Patent number: 4496027
Abstract: A portable motor outrigger for suspending scaffolding in which there are a pair of spaced generally parallel, substantially A-frame-shaped supports (30, 32), having a beam (26) extending therebetween. Each A-frame has two plates (100, 108), one adjacent the lower end of one leg (76) and the other adjacent the lower end of the other leg (78). The plates are adapted to be positioned on a surface (12) to support the beam (26) through the A-frame supports. A wheel (104) is mounted for rotation in a lower part of the A-frame and is positioned to be substantially in vertical alignment with the center of gravity of the weight on the support. A caster (98) depends from an end (86) of each A-frame, the wheel and caster being above a roof surface when the plates (100, 108) support the A-frames on the roof surface. A jackscrew (92) is mounted on one end of each A-frame adjacent the caster and is adapted to raise and lower plate (100) adjacent the caster with respect to the A-frame and the caster.

  • Patent number: 4198724
Abstract: The window washer is suspended from the top of a building by a suspension line and moves up and down the line while cleaning the side of the building. Cleaning liquid is dripped onto brushes which scour the surface to be cleaned. A squeegee in wiping contact with the wetted surface wipes the cleaning liquid from such surface and collects it generally at a leading edge portion of the squeegee. Then, collected cleaning liquid is removed by suction.

  • Patent number: 4106156
Abstract: A plurality of ring members each having a hard metal inner ring portion, a concentric elastomeric outer ring portion and a layer of elastomeric material bounding at least one radial face, are held by a cylindrical member in a stacked relation with the open centers of the ring members aligned. A pair of end plates, each having a wire rope aperature aligned with the open centers of the ring members, are secured together by a plurality of fasteners thereby retaining the cylindrical member between them. When a tensioned wire rope or the like passing through the open centers of the ring members bears sideways against the hard metal inner ring portions, the elastomeric outer ring portions distort to allow a bending line of contact between the wire rope and the hard metal inner ring portions.

  • Patent number: 4096922
Abstract: An outrigger beam projects outwardly beyond the edge of the roof, to serve as an overhead anchor for the suspension line of a suspended staging. A support leg depends from the beam and makes contact with the roof inwardly of the roof edge. At a location further inwardly from the roof edge, the outrigger beam is secured to an elevated support rail, but in a manner permitting both axial and sideways angular movement, as needed, for proper positioning of the outboard end of the outrigger beam relative to the side of the building. The support rail counterbalances the weight of the staging. The outrigger beam is connected to the support rail by a carriage which permits (1) the outrigger beam to be pivoted vertically about the support rail, for raising the support leg up off the roof, and (2) sideways movement of the tilted outrigger beam lengthwise of the rail.
