  • Publication number: 20050019376
Abstract: A dosage form comprises an active ingredient and a confectionery composition. In one embodiment the relative standard deviation of the weight of the dosage form is less than 1%, and the dosage form has at least one face. In another embodiment, a dosage form comprising an active ingredient and a confectionery composition wherein the dosage form has at least one face, does not have a free formed surface, and has a mean polarized light transmission at the angle of maximum extinction which is not greater than the mean polarized light transmission of the dosage form at the angle of maximum transmission. The active ingredient may be a pharmaceutically active agent.

  • Publication number: 20050008696
Abstract: Systems, methods and apparatuses for manufacturing dosage forms, and to dosage forms made using such systems, methods and apparatuses are provided. Novel compression, thermal cycle molding, and thermal setting molding modules are disclosed. One or more of such modules may be linked, preferably via novel transfer device, into an overall system for making dosage forms.

  • Patent number: 5740717
Abstract: In contrast to typical machines though, the present invention discloses a device which allows the plate to "float" within the mechanism, so that any inaccuracies in dimensional tolerances between plate and knife are absorbed in a damping of the plate or bed of the mechanism. In this situation, the depth of the cut of the score line can be very reliably controlled, which results in the repeatable manufacturing of a child resistant, yet senior effective package. There is used a spring pre-load for this plate, which is such that cutting takes place yet, as the tool closes, the plate and package come in "metal to metal" contact, assuring "near perfect" cuts of the blister package. Extremely high tolerances are maintained, assuring packages which pass all levels and types of QA testing.

  • Patent number: 5628847
Abstract: An improved system for applying labels to pharmaceutical vials or the like includes a heating tunnel assembly having an insulated heating chamber defined by a first stationary portion and a second removable portion, with a heater positioned within the insulated heating chamber. The assembly includes movable mounting structure for mounting the second removable portion of the insulated heating chamber for movement between a first position engaged with the first stationary portion, and a second retracted position remote from said first portion. An actuator is provided for moving the second portion of the insulated heating chamber into its engaged position, while a biasing spring resiliently biases the second removable portion of the chamber toward the retracted position. As a result, the heating tunnel assembly will automatically be opened to prevent products from overheating or burning in the event of an emergency that disables the actuator.

  • Patent number: 5390477
Abstract: A system for applying a heat-shrinkable sleeve or label to a container such as a vial for pharmaceuticals includes a novel heat tunnel assembly. The heat tunnel assembly, in a preferred embodiment, includes a conveyor for moving the sleeved containers past a heat source. The conveyor has a plurality of rollers upon which the sleeved containers are supported and rotated. The rollers turn at a first rate during initial shrinkage of the sleeve, and at a second, slower, rate after the initial shrinkage has occurred to reduce distortion and unwanted displacement of the label during its application. The heat tunnel assembly also includes a system for withdrawing the heat source from the vicinity of the conveyor should unexpected circumstances arise.
