Abstract: A power converter which converts alternating current (AC) utility power or direct current (DC) power to any DC output voltage by use of at least one switch and a resonant circuit resulting in power conversion by means of sinusoidal waveshapes. The resonant circuit defines the frequency of operation of the commutation circuit such that the frequency changes only a moderate amount with loads ranging anywhere from an open circuit to a short circuit, thereby providing reliable commutation and circuit operation under all load conditions.
